The first ever Garrard County Army JROTC color guard for the Middle School 8th grade night. Good Job and very proud.
The program will wear uniforms tomorrow, Wednesday 9/22, and the newspaper will come to the school and do a story.

The JROTC program completed our first official physical training session on Monday after learning stretching and exercises.
I know I am a little behind with posting pictures and events: Last week we brought in the Army Active Duty and Army Reserve Recruiter from Lexington to brief our cadets on the college benefits and options to serve.
The first GCHS Army JROTC coins were awarded to Superintendent Kevin Stull and Assistant Kalem Grasham for their drive and support to start our program.
A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion, bearing an organization's insignia or emblem and carried by the organization's members. Traditionally, they might be given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. Coins are earned! Thanks to VALOR COINS and PINS for the design.
The cadets partnered with the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Nicholasville to distribute much needed clothing, blankets, and fellowship to the homeless community of Jessamine County this weekend. Special thanks to Pastor Lonnie Moore for the invitation and those cadets who volunteered over the break.
Congratulations to Cadet Captain Robert Lynk who enlisted in the United States Navy. Cadet Lynk will ship off to Great Lakes on June 15th, 2021. Following Basic Training Robert will go to "A" school to become a Machinist's Mate and Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, CT. He will receive a $10,000 enlistment bonus.
Today is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We are spending the day understanding one of the most pivotal events of the 20th century.

Congratulations to Cadet Major Wesley Pennington who enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard as a 13B Cannon Crewmember this week! Cadet Pennington received a $20,000 enlistment bonus and as a part of the Kentucky National Guard he will have his college tuition paid after graduating this spring from Garrard County High School.
