Arab Quiz Bowl

Congratulations to the Middle School team for winning their pool at the District Tournament. The team moves on to state after victories over Hanceville, Cold Springs, St. Bernard, and Fairview. 8th grader Hudson Douglas was the top scorer in the district.

The Middle School and Elementary Teams competed Saturday at the Decatur Invitational.

The 8th grade team finished 2nd in the 30 team field. They had had a record of 7-1 with wins over Liberty, Thompson, Athens Bible, Hatton, Austin, and Baldwin before losing a close finals match to Rainbow 300-220.

The 7th grade team finished with a 4-1 record, but did not make the playoffs with their only loss coming to the tournament champion.

The Elementary team finished 1st in the 18 team field with a 7-1 record notching wins against Decatur, Discovery, Gadsden, and Liberty before beating Baldwin Magnet in the finals.

The Varsity Quiz Bowl Team finished 4th this past weekend at the West Point NAQT Invitational. The team was led in scoring by sophomores James Beard and James Drake. This performance qualified the team for the High School National Championship Tournament this coming May in Atlanta

The Middle School teams competed today at the North by North Gwinnett Tournament. The 48 team event was held outside of Atlanta and included 5 teams who finished in the top 25 nationally last season.

The A team finished 9th overall with a 4-3 record
The B team finished 25th overall with a 2-3 record

Both teams played really well this weekend and gained valuable experience for the future.

Friday, we kicked off the Middle School and Elementary School season at the annual West Point-Wallace State Middle School Tournament. The event was very successful and it may have been the best start for all of our teams in program history.

The 8th grade team went 7-1 and placed 3rd Overall.
The 7th grade team lost in the quarterfinals and finished with a 3-3 record.

On the elementary side of the event, both our 6th grade and 5th grade teams went 4-2 respectively.

The teams combined for an 18-8 record overall. We are very proud of them, and excited to see how they progress this season.

The High School Varsity Team started their season today at the West Point Early Fall Invitational, and finished 4th overall in the 24 team field with a 6-2 record. The team went undefeated in the preliminary rounds by defeating Hoover B, Westminster at Oak Mountain, Danville A, Florence B, and East Lawrence B. They bested ASCTE C in the quarterfinals before losing to ASCTE A in the semifinals and Bob Jones in the consolation match.

The team was led in scoring by Sophomore James Drake and was followed by a strong outing from Freshman Josh Giddy.

The team will be back in action tomorrow at the Battleground Invitational in Franklin, TN.

Jonas was not in the group All Star pictures. There had been an error in reporting scores that was caught by Josh Giddy's mom and Josh being a true teammate handed his medal to Jonas. It was a 1 point difference.Congratulations to both young men for showing true sportsmanship.
