The I International Congress on Sustainable Construction and Demolition (SCD 2021) will be held on 17 and 18 November 2021, in Valencia, Spain. This Conference will take place in a hybrid format, considering all prevention measures in accordance with the current health situation. All the lectures and presentations will be online on a digital presentation. The official languages of the Conference are English, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
Objectives:

UPWOOD actively participated in the Fair in (Spain) which took place from May 26 to 28, 2021. The event was held at the ETSIE's main conference hall and could also be streamed live via TEAMS. This event represents a key annual event for the sector since it receives every year about 100,000 professionals from more than 140 countries.
In this 35th edition, the programme included a total of 54 technical conferences and discussions, which analysed success cases of entrepreneurial students (Hyperloop, Zeleros, Azalea, BeMore 3D, Clon Digital, SpanS), disruptive Valencian companies in industrialisation, collaborations with the professional association and innovative proposals in the international sphere, among other topics.
An interesting exchange of experiences took place at EXCO 21 with the participation of 57 universities from five continents (from Wuham to Cape Town via Sapporo or Florida), 9 departments and 8 research institutes: the Institute of Concrete Science and Technology (ICITECH); the Institute for Bioengineering and Human Oriented Technology Research (I3B); the University Institute of Heritage Restoration (IRP); the Institute of Materials Technology (ITM); the Institute of Energy Engineering (IIE); the Inter-University Institute for Molecular Recognition and Technological Development (IDM); the Centre for Physical Technologies, Acoustics, Materials and Astrophysics (CTFAMA); the Institute for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (IGIC); the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences, CSIC, and the Institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), L'Aquila (Italy).
Participating in this event was a great opportunity to raise awareness of UPWOOD to a great number of , and sector personnel.

They can capture more carbon than they emit. So why aren’t wooden buildings mainstream? Four storeys high and made almost entirely of wood, the ZEB Lab building in Trondheim, Norway, had, even before it existed, sucked as much carbon from the atmosphere as it would probably produce in construction. Now, thanks to its arboreal origins, as well as to the sleek expanse of solar panels on....
