The Academy of Law welcomed Michael Pickett, Interim Police Chief for the Birmingham Police Department, Alabama. He shared a wealth of informatiom about his career journey, the legal profession, and tips for success. He was accompanied by Lieutenant Norman Adams and Asst. U. S. Attorney Jeremy Sherer who engaged with students and answered questions about their professions. Chief Pickett is a Ramsay alum. We were so proud to welcome him back to his home “on the city’s southern border.” 💙🤍

Today, during intersession, students in the Acasemy of Law participated in the FBI Youth and Teen Summit at the FBI Birmingham Field Office. They engaged in hands-on training, including Special Agent investigative tactics, collecting evidence, solving cases, as well as learning about various roles within the FBI. They also met with FBI employees to learn about the various opportunities within the bureau. They had a fantastic time! I think we have a few emerging law enforcement agents in the group!!

We’re very proud of them for coming to school and participating in this experience on a day when they were out of school! A true spirit of excellence!

The Academy of Law students participated in a comprehensive session at the Capstone Communication Day, hosted by the University of Alabama. Presentations by students, professors, and alumni highlighted the diverse program offerings and benefits of pursuing a degree within the College of Communication and Information Sciences. Additionally, students toured the department's cutting-edge facilities. Many C&IS graduates proceed to Law School, where they effectively apply their foundational communication skills in their legal careers.
