Pregnancy Leave- Pregnancy Leave for Educators Act Introduced and Begins Path Through Legislature AB 2901 (Aguiar-Curry), the CTA-sponsored Pregnancy Leave for Educators Act, is moving through the Legislature and has been referred to the Assembly Education and Higher Education Committees. The bill would end long-standing discrimination against women educators who have had to exhaust sick leave to cover pregnancy- and childbirth-recovery-related absences and who have no paid disability once that sick leave bank is empty. · CTA Secretary-Treasurer Erika Jones kicked off a news conference in Sacramento in late February announcing the new bill where the legislation’s sponsors and supporters joined her. · CTA has an online petition in support of this important measure. We encourage you to add your name and help finally end this practice that disproportionately discriminates against women.

It provided opportunities for professional development and gave our educators time to network and share ideas with colleagues and experts in the field of education.
