Practice rainwater harvesting to help reduce the rising problem of water scarcity

🦟Mosquitoes are considered the most dangerous creatures on the planet, responsible for more human deaths each year than sharks, snakes, bears and lions combined.

🦟 National Dengue Awareness Month is observed every June by virtue of Proclamation No. 1204 on April 21, 1998 by then President Fidel V. Ramos.

🦟To address this growing problem, the Philippine government established the National Dengue Prevention and Control Program in 1993. The program consists of case and vector surveillance, case diagnosis and management, integrated vector management, outbreak response, health promotion and advocacy, and research.

🦟Some mosquitoes are harmful and can spread viruses like West Nile, dengue, Zika, and parasites like malaria.

🦟Always remember the 4s.

• 𝙎𝙀𝘾𝙐𝙍𝙀 𝙎𝙀𝙇𝙁 𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙏𝙀𝘾𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉 from mosquito bite.
• 𝙎𝙀𝙀𝙆 𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙇𝙔 𝘾𝙊𝙉𝙎𝙐𝙇𝙏𝘼𝙉𝙏 when signs and symptoms of dengue occur, and

Did you know?
🫧There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic waste estimated to be in our oceans.

🫧Preventing water pollution and conserving water are important to assure a continuing abundance of water that is safe to use for ourselves and future generations.

🫧First held in 1973, it has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime.

🫧World Environment Day is a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. Each year, the program has provided a theme and forum for businesses, non government organizations, communities, governments and celebrities to advocate environmental causes.

Did you know?

The driest place on earth isn’t over the desert.

💧The continent with the lowest rainfall is snow-covered Antarctica which receives just 6.5 inches of rain or snow annually, making it the driest continent on earth.

💧Water harvesting improves the use of available water from precipitation and run-off by concentrating it for immediate use and storage. The control systems that are implemented can divert water to decrease erosion and flood risk.

💧Don't let rain water run away, let it run to the earth again. Whether you save rain water to the tank or pond, just save it by any means. Rain water is a blessing by God on earth, save it anyhow. Preserve the rainwater; it is a nice gift of God on the earth.

We are one for the 2023 Earth Hour Movement!
Together, we can make a difference.

24/03/2023

“The Biggest Hour for Earth”

On this day, Saturday 25th of March 8:30-9:30 PM, people are encouraged to switch off all non-essential lights and electronic devices for one hour to save energy and overall reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The point of Earth Hour is not just to save energy for one hour; it’s also a symbolic global event that shows we can all make a difference in the fight against climate change. If we all work together, even small changes can make a big difference!

🔥𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝

The Philippines observes Fire Prevention Month in March when temperature and humidity rise. Fires usually occur in these conditions.

As we observe Fire Prevention Month, we are reminded of the hazards and dangers of fire and are encouraged to promote safety consciousness as a positive preventive approach.

Knowledge of fire prevention and safety precautions will keep us safe; vigilance and caution are paramount.

•Here are some tips to avoid the occurrence of fire.

📌Do not play with flammable materials.

📌Unplug electrical equipment when not in use.

📌Secure the LPG tank and check for gas leaks.

📌Conduct family emergency drills and plan an escape route.

📌Use a wet cloth to cover the mouth and nose to avoid inhaling fumes.
If clothes catch fire, do the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” technique, and shout for help.

📌When you can get out, you must stay out!

🚨Presence of mind is crucial in this situation, and rational behavior spells the difference between being a victim and a survivor. Therefore, stay alert so you don’t get hurt!

♻️The month of January has been declared as the National Zero Waste Month through a proclamation made by the former President of the Philippines, Benigno S. Aquino III. National and local government units, agencies, and other sectors are encouraged to participate in programs and activities to support the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (Republic Act No. 9003), which aims to promote environmental awareness and action among Filipinos and establish public participation in the development of national and local integrated, comprehensive and ecological waste management programs.

♻️“Zero Waste” is an advocacy campaign that aims to guide people in changing their lifestyles and practices towards sustainable systems in an ethical, economical, and efficient way, and to ensure that wastes become valuable for other uses. This involves systematically designing and managing products and processes to lessen the volume of waste produced, to eliminate toxicity in resulting waste, and to conserve and recover resources.

♻️What are the 3Rs ? The principle of reducing waste, reusing and recycling resources and products is often called the "3Rs." Reducing means choosing to use things with care to reduce the amount of waste generated. Reusing involves the repeated use of items or parts of items which still have usable aspects.

🌱Reducing - Try to reduce the amount of waste you produce, as this is the best way to help the environment! If you cannot avoid producing the waste, try..

🌱Reusing - Think of ways you could reuse something, like shredding paper for your hamster rather than buying bedding or saving glass jars for storage. If you can not reuse something try…

🌱Recycling (and composting)
This enables the materials you throw away to be used again by making them into new products.
