After many years of teaching in my home studio in Strathcona I'm doing something different: I've decided to come to make your hectic life a little easier and teach lessons in YOUR home!
Operating as usual
IKEA, always a bad idea!
Wow, this is hysterical!!!! 😂
Don't do it! Don't you dare! 🙅
I don’t post much now that I’m retired from teaching…….. BUT, when I read about my past student Alisa Doornberg……I just HAD to share with my piano world.
Whether my students end up like Alida, a musician and music teacher, an engineer, social worker, tradesperson or a barista, I hope they look back on our time together with fondness.
Each of my students has touched me in some way and I look forward to the times when I can catch up with them about their lives, virtually or in person.

Keith Jarrett Confronts a Future Without the Piano The pathbreaking musician reveals the health issues that make it unlikely he will ever again perform in public.
Piano parents beware....the bar has been raised! First the Lewis family let me park in their garage during a blizzard and now - the Weimer dad cleared my car of snow after a two hour lesson at his home!!! Unfortunately he was pretty fast with that blower and I missed most of the snow clearing!! 😂
Love it!!!
Yummmy!!!
Beautiful!
Piano Cake. 💞😍
I’m so proud of my students for adjusting to online lessons and successfully completing their exams this summer. My student teacher I’m currently mentoring got 97 on her written exam and over 85 on her practical exam! And my student who I will be mentoring to teach next ALSO got above 85 on her exam. Excellent job!
Oh so many years ago.....
This little girl has blossomed into a wonderful musician and young woman and will be the next teacher that I mentor!
THIS is how all students should look for a piano exam or recital. Those Lewis kids sure know how to knock it out of the park! Excellent job C! Well dressed and well...played!
Who knows how piano lessons will serve your children over their lifetimes! ❤️
Oh dear.......yes, this is how your local piano teacher is doing these days....her friend thought this was amusing...🤦♀️
Yesterday’s FaceTime lesson fun:
Me - and how many phrases are on the page?
Student - three.
Me - right. So.....if there are only three does that mean you don’t have to play them?
Student - yes
Me....laughing - noooo way. That is NOT what it means.
Ahhhhh so much fun. Always.
Angela this might have been one of your children!
How this funky piano teacher, of 25 years, is no longer semi-retired
Last summer I sold my new studio piano. After 25 years of teaching in west Calgary I decided I was done. I was retiring. I went overseas to work on completing my second degree and returned after 4.5 month. But once a teacher always a teacher.....I resumed teaching a few of my long term students in their homes. Through this very select group of students I was reminded of my love of teaching. The past few months have been full of uncertainty as I have been navigating through my career path. One thing has remained constant: my abilities as a teacher and love of music. Just yesterday I was working on some Chopin with a student and got chills as I explained the musicality of the piece to an eager student. These chills and love of music - this is what makes me a phenomenal teacher. So, apparently I am not retiring from teaching after all. I have decided to continue sharing my gifts of teaching and love of music with a few new students. I am currently accepting new students in the communities surrounding Strathcona (SW) for fall 2018.
