This year brought me my first group of Noema Microschool Students. I could not be more grateful for 2024. I started a whole microschool this year! Are you serious?! I am so excited for everything 2025 will bring for Noema Learning and my students. Happy New Year!
The best gift I gave myself this year was opening a microschool. I’ve had such a joyous season, and I wish you all the same! Thank you to everyone that has joined me on this adventure in building a new way to do education. Whether you are student, parent, friend, or supporter YOU have given me the encouragement to make Noema what it is and what it is turning into.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎄
Giving this one a permanent spot on the feed. We finished The Outsiders and I am so proud of all the discussions and analysis done. Stay Golden. ⭐️🌅
A quick lil update for you!
November Update — Noema Learning A quick lil update.
TRICK OR TREAT!
Newest blog, for those that appreciate the updates! 🙂
Over a month of microschooling. — Noema Learning We’ve been at this for over a month now! Let’s chat about where I am and how I am feeling. First of all, let’s just put this out there: this is the best I’ve ever felt about teaching. I love my students and I can see just how much they are learning in just a little over 6 weeks. We have a gr...
Some spirit week pictures! Y’all did the dang thing. This will definitely not be the last spirit week of the school year, so get ready! 😎🥸
THIS WEEK! Our first spirit week! 🥳🥳🤩🤩
I don't plan to do a blog EVERY week, so don't hold me to this schedule. But here's some thought about where I am at the end of this week. 😁
…there is an element of fun. — Noema Learning I can confidently say that these last two weeks have been the BEST start to a school that I have ever had. My students are connecting really well. We are having such organic, and teachable discussion together. We are learning and growing in such unique ways. I am just so blessed with this g
This is the week one recap blog! If it's scattered brained, or somehow in a different language, it's because I wrote this quickly, and with much gusto. 😬 Enjoy the read!
From “one day” to “day one.” — Noema Learning I know that blog title is cheesy, but goodness does it make sense for this week. Tuesday August 13th, 2024 at 9 am, I had my first group of microschool students in my home. I was strangely at peace with all of them coming. I was ready. I just wanted to get started and see how everything was going
The goofiest of goobers. These kids are some of the best people I’ve ever met. Thank you for trusting me with your students! I am having a blast!
SORRY FOR SHOUTING I AM JUST REALLY EXCITED! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
In conversations with families I often hear "my child is behind in math" or "they are behind in reading." My response is something to the effect of "behind what?" Students grow and learn at their own pace. Just because your child might not be where some of their classmates are, doesn't mean they are "behind." Students need to have goals to work toward, and being told "you are behind" isn't exactly helpful rhetoric.
So let's switch the narrative! Students are EXACTLY where they need to be. As a classroom teacher for 11 years, I saw many students that we're told they were "behind," and all that did was discourage and place them in a box. Your student is capable of great things and accomplishing so much! Sometimes, the standard by which we measure those that are "behind" or "on track" is not an accurate indication of the skills your student has!

"Ew. Don't bring up school yet!" Yes. Yes. I know. When I see those back to school ads, trust me I think the same thing! But I just wanted to give you a gentle reminder to mark 8/13 in your calendar as the first day of school for my enrolled students! 🤓
