Parent-Teacher Conference for Class 2024
September 9, 2023
Olivarez College Tagaytay Convention Center

This meeting served as an orientation program for the parents & 4th-year BS CRIM students before the start of the In-House Review Program in partnership with the Matec Review Center. The program began with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the opening prayer and welcome remarks by our Criminology Department Head, Mrs. Jhasmin Marie B. Mendoza.

The event aimed to educate parents and students about the necessity of passing the Course Audit subjects and acquainted them with the course policy of the in-house review program. Ma’am Mendoza also provided a quick summary of RA. 11131 as part of the preparation for the review program.

On the other hand, Ma’am Mendoza invited two special guests, our alums from Batch 2020, JO1 Schleden R. Borja (Top 8, Region 4A), and from Batch 2018, PAT Anthony Aquino, to share some motivational stories about how they overcame obstacles during their college years, managed their review program to pass the board exam, and how they found success in their career today. They also share tips and motivation for 4th-year students to focus on and emphasize their academics and the review program.

OCT BS CRIM DEPT HEART'S DAY CELEBRATION

CHECK OUT: The Criminology Department hallway was surrounded by Olivarians' glistening hearts and grins on February 14, 2023.

Around ten o'clock in the morning till five o'clock in the afternoon, the BS Criminology Council Officers (COPS) successfully ran and facilitated the dedication booth and photo booth. It was arranged to fill the hearts of Olivarians with a comforting warmth and fervor; giving them a new sets of deep-seated bottles of memories not just with themselves but along with the people they hold dear and committed to. And it was through the pictures that will not just simply stay with them physically, but will also be engraved within their heart, mind and inmost soul regardless of the brisk passage of time.

Breathing in the overwhelming atmosphere, socializing and taking pictures are indeed essential to lighten up the mood. Thus, having the photobooth as a way of celebrating Valentine's Day, serves as a wide-scale reminder that love is significant in the lives of each and every student at Olivarez College Tagaytay. The essence of life is not always on the frame of courage and bravery; sometimes the greatest form of it is showing the vulnerabilities and forms that is outside the self that is often too afraid to show the scars.

Indeed, throughout the Valentine's day celebration, laughters, smiles and banters that formed a hearty and convivial rhythm and ambience filled the hallway. Olivarians are reminded with the real bottom line and meaning of celebrating love.

Aristole on his writing academy, “ is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees the others. is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity.” In addition on what he said, it is always a must to remember “The whole is more than the sum of its parts.”

Intertwined with that are the vital learnings that they surely fathom and absorbed as the activities takes on and off. For the team building commenced by the OCT Criminology Department eyed for the students to persevere despite the hindrances and thorns, to fixate towards the goal no matter how others find it impossible, and to learn where and when to peak--by means of the methods or techniques to reach the triumph.

Furthermore, eventhough the activities are indeed friendly, the students are reminded again to always carry their discipline or self control; to know how to listen with the instructions and to also learn to lend their ears with the suggestions of their comrades. Plus, being aware of what they were capable of; they were able to unleash their competitiveness, creativity, skills and talents together. The team building gives them the ability to be strong, wise, productive, and flexible; preparing them to showcase and voice out their deepest roars and colors. And to withstand and overcome the obstacles in their lives in order to have a promising future among them once they finished their studies.
