โ€œThank youโ€ just isnโ€™t enough! Like I said before, I couldnโ€™t do what I do without the support of my friends, family, and community.

If you know of any companies or individuals who would like to donate to an elementary classroom, please feel free to share my list!

I am beyond grateful and blessed ๐Ÿ’

This will be my 21st year of teaching ๐Ÿฅณ! Itโ€™s definitely something that I canโ€™t be successful at on my own.

If you can, I would be incredibly grateful for any help with my wishlist this year. Ways my sweet villagers can help:
- share my post with friends or businesses โฉ
- email an Amazon gift card of any amount youโ€™re comfortable with to me at [email protected] ๐Ÿ’Œ
- purchase something from my wishlist that you are comfortable with. https://bit.ly/battistawishlist ๐Ÿ’

Last year was a tough one, and am so grateful for everyone who helped me through it. Looking forward to *hopefully* a more normal year!

Nothing like new skinny markers and a multi colored clicky pen to get kids excited about writing the same words over and over and over againโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜‚
๐Ÿ•ต๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธcan you guess what word is written in code?!

๐ŸฅฐA special thank you to amazing friends and parents for donating items that get my first graders motivated and excited to learn!

Lots of recovery, rest, and reflection have been going on the past two months!
Iโ€™m excited to use these hands-on activities to help my first graders make sight word spelling more fun ๐Ÿค“๐ŸŽ‰ and to strength their little ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ!

We โ€˜mustacheโ€™ you a question... are you ready for summer?!

Photos from Magical First Grade with Mrs. Battista's post 03/05/2021

๐ŸŒช doesnโ€™t start with G!
Today was G day on our countdown to summer vacation and The Bunch brought in a game to play.
Well, our little ๐ŸŒช warning โš ๏ธ kinda sucked the fun away...but gummy worms and Goofy episodes helped lift their little spirits!

I'm very visual, and color-coding has always helped me stay organized. I LOVE what emojis and colored folders have done for my Google Drive! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿค“

Who would have thought that my favorite subject to teach was my own worst subject in school?! I LOVE teaching writing in first grade. This week we worked on hooking the reader with the introduction ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

I absolutely love this dice game! The Easter bunny brought it to my oldest when he was in kindergarten. Iโ€™ve used it with my third grade math students and now with my first grade math students! The picture got cropped, but there is a 12 sided die that is the target number for the math equations. Check my stories to see my mathematicians in action! (I gave them an equation to prove true or false.)

When remote things can get that a little too routine and boring. Spicing it up and making the kids do the examples!

As we head into another month of full remote I have some new tricks up my sleeve ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love math workshops! Students get to choose what they want to work on...student choice = more motivation and more effort ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

These kiddos chose some subtraction games, and their strategies are on point ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

I canโ€™t pull small groups because of having to stay 6โ€™ away, but I can walk around to observe their work and pop over for a quick 1-in-1 mini-conference to correct any misunderstandings.

A little about me and my educational journey...I graduated from Niagara University in 2001 with a BA in Elementary Education and concentration in Math. In the summer of 2002 I moved to Charlotte, NC and was hired at a GREAT elementary school thatI have been at for the past 19 years ๐Ÿ’™. I then continued my professional learning and received my Masters in Literacy PreK-12 from Queens University of Charlotte. After that, I earned my National Boards Teachers Certification (and renewed last year ๐ŸŽ‰). I am always on a quest for the best ways to reach my little learners - and one things is constant. Little people need FUN, happiness, and trust.

I taught 1st grade for my first 9 years, 3rd grade math for the next 8 years, and went back to 1st last year. These past 2 years have been like no other, and I will do what ever I can to make these early years special, memorable, but at the same time filling these little learners with knowledge in a developmentally appropriate way amidst a global pandemic ๐Ÿ’

Welcome to my page! I *just* created this page, so thank you for being the first to join with me!

I'll be posting all about my adventures with the Battista Bunch, hybrid learning, remote learning, activities that my firsties are doing, things you can do at home, and MY learning along as I continue on my 19th year in teaching. We are ALL lifelong learners, and I hope that I will instill that into my sweet little ones!
