“Today’s U.S. Supreme Court 7-2 decision in Haaland v. Brackeen comes as a sigh of relief, as a majority of justices declared the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) remains constitutional. This decision affirms decades of legal precedent that the relationship between tribes and the federal government is lawfully embedded within the U.S. Constitution. We applaud this decision and celebrate the rights of tribes to continue to care for the health and well-being of Indian children and communities.”
