Find a quiet moment every morning to think through your day, imagining yourself completing every task on your list with success. You will be less likely to forget something that you have to do, you will feel less overwhelmed by your to do list, and you will complete your day with more confidence!

My favorite times for my morning preview are: while sipping my morning coffee, during a morning walk/ run, or while lying in bed in the time between my alarm going off and actually getting up.

At the end of the day find a quiet moment to reflect on your day. Remember everything you did and especially focus on those little golden moments that happened such as the time spent playing with your kids. This will help you create lasting memories from your day, help prevent days from running together, and will help you create a stronger bond with your loved ones.

Previewing and reviewing my day has had a huge impact on my confidence and memory. It’s also helped me fee less overwhelmed, and more accomplished. I actually notice that experience time differently when I use this technique, my memory of each day is sharpened, with crisp colorful highlights, meaning that days don’t start blurring together like they used to.

Thank you @‌jimkwik for teaching me this memory technique through your classes and books.

My daughter loved reading simple phonics stories by child author and illustrator Arushi Bhattacharjee! She could read the stories all by herself which was a huge confidence boost, and she loved the bright pictures that were featured! @‌arushianushkachildauthors

You’re getting a super “real” look at my daughter reading! With a new baby in the house I’m snapping real world shots of her reading. Let’s just say it’s… authentic!

It is important to experience a rich rainbow of emotions, but it is also important to reflect on your experiences and ensure that you are living the life you want to live. If you focus on removing or decreasing things that make you sad, angry, or stressed, you will have more room for things that make you happy.

If you want to buy a signed copy of my books you can now order them through jennymouse.com (My Baby is a Dinosaur will be added to the website soon).

I’ve been meaning to share this amazing book by talented indie author Siebenaler for a while now but with a new baby in our family life has gotten chaotic, so I’m sharing real world reading featuring my 4 year old with her quirky style and her messy morning hair reading on our couch snuggled up next to our cute pooch. 😍

With a new baby I’ve found it hard to keep up with writing new blog posts, updating my website, completing the professional development I want to do… pretty much everything! I’ve found it super helpful to use my post planning as a way to motivate myself to get things done. I make a note to myself to share my accomplishments on Instagram. I still get way behind compared to my plan, but it sure is a fun way to celebrate those wins! I especially like sharing my drawing stages, it makes me feel so good to see and share the progress I’m making towards another published book.

My Baby is a Zombie is the sequel to my book My Baby is a Dinosaur found here https://travelingchalkboard.com/product/my-baby-is-a-dinosaur/

Inspired by the crazy antics of author Jenny Mouse’s young kids, these books use repetitive, simple language and feature fun bright pictures to draw in young children and beginner readers.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴?

Moving beyond fine motor skills, which children have to master first in order to write clearly, writing legibly is a social skill that requires a strong understanding of theory of mind. To write clearly children have to realize that other people are going to read what they have written, and think of what they need to include to make sure their words and sentences are legible. Children who don’t have a strong understanding of how others think may have the skills to write neatly but may need help realizing the importance of writing neatly.

My rough sketches are done for my new book “My Baby is a Zombie!”

My Baby is a Zombie is sequel to My Baby is a Dinosaur. I’m hoping to have the book finished by the end of the year so that I can give it to my daughter as a Christmas gift. I predict that its publication date will be early 2025! 🤩

Seeking help can be so hard. In my own mental health journey I have found that because I function well professionals don’t take my challenges seriously. I’ve had to learn to become my own advocate and take the role of teacher in order to get help. I have run into the same challenges when advocating for my son as well. All of his strengths are so visible that it is hard for his teachers to understand that he also has very strong challenges that need support. Taking on that role of a teacher has helped me advocate for him.

If you are struggling to get professionals to take you or your child’s needs seriously you are not alone. It’s so hard to be struggling so much and to then have to find the energy to teach a professional about your needs, but if you can manage it, it’s worth pushing through to get support.

Why do so many brilliant kids excel at math, but struggle with showing their work? It’s because showing your work is a social skill and requires a strong understanding of theory of mind. Kids who need support with SEL (social emotional learning) skill are likely to struggle with showing their work. Make sure to teach this social aspect of math separately from the math equations and math theory. 👏

Playing around with colors on my Baby Zombie Storyboard!

Baby Zombie is a story I am writing for my daughter Lucy. She was my FOMO baby who refused to nap because her brother was way too interesting. Her hilarious and sleep deprived antics inspired the creation of Baby Zombie.

It’s the first day of summer break here, and I’m entering the vacation with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. With a new little one in our home I know it’s going to be a busy season! I wish you the best with your summer vacation plans, and hope you get some beach time!

Saying hello, giving a smile, greeting someone by name, waving, or paying someone a complement are all great ways to exchange a small kindness.

I hated small talk until I heard to it referred to as exchanging a “small kindness.” That completely changed my opinion of small talk, as well as they way I engage and greet people. They are letting you know they care enough to spend their time talking to you, and that means a lot. 👏

Add play to waiting in line, shopping at the store, or going for a walk! You’ll get happier kids, the time will go by faster, and you’ll encourage positive interactions.

It’s incredible the difference simple games like “I spy” or “Simon says” can make!

After studying the Beatles, which my students did not seem super enthused about, I asked them what type of music they like. They all enthusiastically replied that they enjoyed classical. I was impressed by their taste in music and prepared a lesson on classical music that everyone enjoyed. Following the lesson I asked them what they would like to learn next. To my surprise they told me RAP!
