BENEDICT team member Caterina Morganti (Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna) attended the 2023 EC³ - European Conference on Computing in Construction in Heraklion, Crete, Greece (10th July - 12th July 2023) and made a presentation entitled: "Teaching BIM: a comparison between actual and future perspectives".

The Benedict project team came together for the final international event - a short-term joint staff training course which took place from June 19th-21st at the TalTech campus in Tallinn. In total, 18 delegates from the three partner universities, TTK University of Applied Sciences and REC industry representatives attended.

We are pleased to announce that Benedict project is now collaborating with DiRoots https://diroots.com to develop a Moodle plugin for their DiStella https://diroots.com/apps/distellar/ IFC online viewer which will allow BIM model viewing, data export and more from the BIM-enabled Learning Environment.

Ideas and findings on BIM-enabled learning possibilities from the BENEDICT project were shared with students of the Construction and Facility Management course of the Faculty of Building Engineering-Architecture (international course) of the University of Bologna in a guest lecture by Emlyn Witt yesterday. Many thanks to Ugo Maria Coraglia for organising this opportunity!

A multiplier event was held at Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn on October 17th where Benedict was introduced and the BIM-enabled Learning Environment (BLE) demonstrated to academic colleagues from the University of Central Lancashire, University of Colombo, University of Huddersfield, , University of Ruhuna, University of Sri Jayawardhanapura and Vilnius Tech.

To celebrate Erasmusdays 2022 we are holding an online information exchange event where the co-ordinating partners of a selection of projects (BRITAE [Building Resilience in Tropical Agro-Ecosystems], FOUNTAIN [Fostering sustainable University-industry Techno-entrepreneurial Collaborations and innovations in Asian Universities], MICROBE [Minimizing the influence of coronavirus in a built environment], BENEDICT [BIM-enabled Learning Environment for Digital Construction]) all co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union share information about the projects, their results and experiences.
The event will take place online at 10:30-11:30 Tallinn / Vilnius time on Saturday 15th October 2022.
During this online event, each of these projects will be briefly introduced followed by a Q&A which everyone is very welcome to join in. This event is open to the public - anyone with the link can tune in.

First BENEDICT-related journal paper accepted for publication!!💃🕺🤩
The paper will soon become publicly available once published by the International Journal of Construction Management in their special issue titled: “Teaching and Learning, Skills Development and Ethics in the Built Environment in Industry/Construction 4.0”

The BENEDICT project's first Multiplier Event, an online seminar and workshop "Establishing the foundation for BIM-enabled learning environments" was hosted by Tampere University on 10th June 2021.
Very useful input was received from delegates representing a wide range of important stakeholders beyond the project partners: Solibri, Inc. BuildingSMART Finland, Novarc Group AS, Federal University Birnin-Kebbi, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Virstem - Virtual technology for use in STEM, University of Moratuwa, Karelia University of Applied Sciences, LAB University of Applied Sciences, Skanska Finland, JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Istituto Istruzione Professionale Lavoratori Edili, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Novatron Oy.

Welcome to the BENEDICT page! The BENEDICT project is an Erasmus+ strategic partnership between the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at TalTech - Tallinn University of Technology, the Civil Engineering Unit of Tampere University and the Department of Architecture at Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna.
The BENEDICT project is aimed at leveraging the emerging possibilities of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to enhance the education of Real Estate and Construction professionals by developing an innovative, BIM-enabled Learning Environment which offers more realistic, immersive and integrated learning experiences.
