We strive to carry out any awareness/acceptance events that Sgt. Ramirez began. We take advantage of any opportunity to educate others on autism!

Our goal is to improve the uncertainty & uneasiness that individuals with autism experience day in & day out. Charity and softball fundraiser

We would like to offer a special thank you to the Friends of GCSO for helping make TWO scholarships possible this year. Without Sheriff Schultz and the Friends of GCSO we would have had to cut back and only provide 1 scholarship this year. We are incredibly grateful for their support and generosity.

We are excited to announce our second Class of 2025 recipient, Cedar Key Shark, Serenity Miranda. Serenity plans to continue her education at the College of Central Florida, studying Digital Illustration and Animation. Being able to lessen the burden of continuing her education is one way we are able to keep Sergeant Ramirez’s wish alive, while continuing to honor the legacy left behind by Sergeant Ramirez and Deputy Lindsey. Congratulations Serenity!

It’s hard to believe we are preparing our Class of 2025 scholarship application! This class will be the 8th graduating class we have been able to support.

As we are looking at our funds, we have decided to reach out to you, our supporters, before we decrease our scholarship amount. Due to unfortunate circumstances our normal funding is less than it has been in previous years. We would love to keep our scholarship at 2 separate $1,000 scholarships; however, we currently cannot do so. This is where you come in!

If you are looking for a worthwhile cause to contribute even just a few dollars to, we’d love for you to consider donating to Changing the World for Noel to help us keep Sergeant Ramirez and Deputy Lindsey’s legacy alive while we strive to change the world for Sergeant Ramirez‘s son Noel and the autism community.

Thank you for helping us by donating, sharing our post to spread the word, and/or praying for our charity and its well deserving seniors!

Tonight we had the honor of presenting our first scholarship of the year. Congratulations to Chiefland Indian, Ms Abby Story. Abby plans to attend college and major in special education. She also plans to start a non-profit organization to help adults who lack a support system to help them navigate through life’s challenges. Abby, we are proud of you! Thank you for helping us by Changing the World for Noel!

Want your school to be the top-listed School/college?

WHY?

God has created a burden in my heart to work on fulfilling the wishes a local hero had for his son. Noel Ramirez Jr’s dream was to change the world for his son. You see, his son was diagnosed as autistic at an early age. As an incredible father, Noel wanted to make the world a better place for his son to live in.

On April 19, 2018 Sergeant Noel Ramirez Jr and Deputy Taylor Lindsey both lost their lives tragically while doing what they loved-- protecting the people of Gilchrist County. This sparked a lot of anger and disgust in the community members of Noel and Taylor: however, it also brought together several communities and created a sense of unity and family.

As a result of this tragedy, God has placed it on my heart to help live out Noel Jr’s dream for his son, through the development of an annual scholarship for 1 autistic graduating senior in Gilchrist or Levy County. You see, both of these counties are eligible because they are the two counties that Noel Ramirez Jr’s smile impacted. Our hope is to eventually be able to award a scholarship to one autistic graduate in Gilchrist County in memory of Deputy Taylor Lindsey and one autistic graduate in Levy County in memory of Sergeant Noel Ramirez Jr. Levy County is where Sergeant Ramirez began his career, as well as where his son began his educational endeavors.

Being a teacher in Levy County, as well as the wife of a Levy County Deputy, my students had the honor of meeting Noel when he was working side by side with my husband. His smile left a lasting impression on them. Little did we know at that time, that this smile would be taken from Earth so soon.
