Project for the weekend!

03/11/2023

Final challenge. Putting it all together, syncopate + triplet arpeggios + backing track.

03/11/2023

Triplet arpeggios over a backing helps you lock in your changes and develop speed.

03/11/2023

Syncopate your arpeggios over a backing track to fine tune your rhythm. Another great way to get used to the changes.

03/11/2023

Add a backing track to your practice and this develops feel and timing.

03/11/2023

Next we syncopate the triplet arpeggios to teach ourselves how to adapt. Syncopation is a great way to ‘get used to all permutations’. The shapes stay the same but the feel changes.

03/11/2023

Add variations to your sequence by playing in triplets. This teaches your fingers how to roll with the changes. The shapes stay the same but where and how you change will change. Also a good speed builder.

03/11/2023

We next arpeggiate the chord sequence to understand the position of the chord tones in a linear improvisational format.

03/11/2023

The next voicing group is what I call Group C Voicings. This spans the 10th to 14th frets. We learn the circle of 5ths progression because it contains both major and minor Ii-V-I’s. You can break them up and learn them separately if that’s better for you. I combine them to kill two birds with one stone.

Experimenting with Triangle picks… I’ll probably do a video (eventually) on the effect of picks. Would you like content like this? Let me know.

Last Sunday I got the opportunity and honour to perform for the President at a private event. As a singer-songwriter, this was indeed a memorable gig. Thank you Roses of Peace for inviting me.

The Absolutely Fabulous Javanese Pentatonic Scale 28/07/2023

Introducing the Javanese Pentatonic Scale family, an exotic sounding pentatonic scale reminiscent of traditional music from the Indonesian archipelago. This scale family contains the Balinese, Javanese, and Sundanese flavour. It has overall a major 7th (Ionian) tonality.
