I’d like to help clear the air by sharing that Critical Race Theory IS NOT being taught in RTSD. When it is taught, it is typically in doctoral level programs. This pedagogical work originated in 1970’s legal studies when legal scholars then pointed out the inequities in legal systems. What RTSD is transparently focusing on-and I know because I’m working closely with RTSD’s DEI director, Dr. Anthony C Stevenson, and started the WES DEI PTO Committee along with Vicki Roberts Browne- is deeply caring for and appreciating racial, cultural, linguistic diversity, and histories of all people and making sure every student has an equitable educational experience. Every RTSD parent is invited to get involved by joining their school’s PTO DEI committee. I promise you’ll see things differently if you do. I’m happy to have positive and productive chats with any RTSD parents. Please PM me if you’re interested in talking or joining either the Wayne Elementary School Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee or another school’s committee this Fall.
