United WE READ is a collaborative partnership model aimed at advancing the common good by raising visibility, deepening connections, and engaging supporters to build a literacy-rich community. In 2012, the United Way of Greater Kingsport identified early grade literacy as a priority Community Impact Strategy

What a GREAT opportunity! Bring the kiddos to Juneteenth and get FREE books. Special thanks to United WE READ and United Way of Greater Kingsport for providing such a fantastic learning option for the children in our community.

United WE READ had a wonderful time celebrating Black History Month!
We read 🚀Mae Among the Stars 🚀 at Jackson and Kennedy Elementary Kingsport City Schools with Kingsport Leadership Programs, LK Class of 2024.
We read books celebrating black voices with EastmanConnect ERG at Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingsport- providing free books to the Boys and Girls Club to add to their in house library 📚
We attended a Black History Month Lunch and Learn hosted by United Way of Greater Kingsport 💚💛❤️
There were many other wonderful celebrations and community events happening during February, honoring Black History Month. United WE READ encourages everyone to be lifelong learners and to continue to attend and support these events!

In honor of Black History Month, we partnered with Leadership Kingsport Class of 2024 to read Mae Among the Stars ✨ to students at Jackson Elementary and Kennedy Elementary Schools! Mae Among the Stars ✨ is the TRUE STORY of Mae Jemison, the first African American Woman to travel to SPACE! 🚀
Thank you to the wonderful family liaisons at both schools who helped make this happen and to the teachers who shared their time and classroom with us!
