Saigon Swing Cats

Our Story

Saigon Swing Cats are a community of Swing dancers in Saigon, Vietnam since 2006.

Swing dance is a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazz music in the 1920’s–1940’s, with the origins of each dance predating the popular "swing era". During the swing era, there were hundreds of styles of swing dancing, but those that have survived beyond that era include: Lindy Hop, Balboa, Collegiate S**g, and Charleston. Today, the most well-known of these dances is the Lindy Hop, which originated in Harlem, New York City within the African American community in the early 1930’s.

Saigon Swing Cats dance the Lindy Hop, Charleston most of the time, with some Blues touch and sometimes Balboa. We run our socials with our own Swing DJs twice weekly at these 2 lovely venues in downtown Saigon:
- 8 pm - 11.30 pm on Wednesday at Bo***ir lounge of Sofitel Saigon hotel (17 Le Duan, D.1) including 30-min free taster class for beginners
- 7 pm - 9 pm on Sunday at Parkhaus Saigon (152 Lê Lai, D.1).
