Raffles is proud to collaborate with PepsiCo to organize the Aquafina Pure Fashion Competition 2008.

31st October is marked as Halloween Day. A day where ghouls and witches walk the earth and humans pretends to be vampires, ghouls and angels and what not.

At Raffles International College, Hanoi, it has been a tradition to celebrate Halloween in a big way. With performances, costumes, games and music, the students looked forward to this day like a child to Christmas.

The student organizing committee started planning for the party about 6 weeks before the big day with students from different faculties coming together to take charge of different areas. The graphic and interior design students were of course put in charge of designing the poster and backdrop as well as decorating the venue. Fashion students made the costumes and provided make up services. Management students took care of the rest. Great efforts were put in by all in the committee to make the party a success.


However on the day of the party, as if a will of god, various parts of northern Vietnam including Hanoi experienced the worst storm in more than 20 years. Many areas in Hanoi were flooded, some up to waist and chest deep.

Remaining hopeful, the students nevertheless prepared for the party to start at 8pm hoping the rain will stop. The rain went on the rest of the night and well into the next day. The party had to be postponed.

So with more time for preparation, a better party was promised on the 8th November 2008. Although belated, the students still managed to have plenty of fun. Included in the line up was a segment on magic card tricks performed by our student, Mr. Hieu who has been obsessed with magic tricks for many years. There were also martial arts performances, break dancing, singing/rapping, games and of course the Best Costume Award! However, the highlight of the evening was the Raffles Song, penned and performed by our very own students, Mr. Thai, Mr. Quang and Ms Phuong. This collaborated effort indeed showed great teamwork among the students and their pride to be a part of Raffles International College.

The students and staff who were able to join the party enjoyed themselves tremendously and as the party ended well after midnight, most of them will be looking forward to the next party a year from now and dressing up and having fun all over again.
