We have two classes this coming weekend that still have openings for. Saturday, April 9th, 12 to 4 pm we have Defensive 1. This is an excellent first step up from casual training.

On Sunday April 10th, 10 to 2 pm, we have Fundamentals of Firearms. Class covers the fundamentals of handguns, marksmanship, sights, stance and trigger pull. It is ideal for basic to somewhat skilled users. Both are 4 hour classes.

FN Announces a Safety Recall for the FN 502 Tactical™.22LR Pistol
March 28, 2022

"FN America, LLC (“FN”) recently became aware of a potential safety issue with certain FN 502 Tactical pistols that were previously the subject of FN’s January 27, 2022 safety bulletin. The original concern involved a missing manual safety lock lever in a small number of FN 502 Tactical pistols that would allow the discharge of the pistol when the trigger is pulled and the manual safety is in the SAFE position. While investigating this issue with Umarex, the supplier of the FN 502 Tactical, we encountered a separate concern with proper installation of the manual safety lock lever. Consequently, if forced by multiple pulls of the trigger in succession, or if the pistol is jarred, an unintended firing may happen when the manual safety is in the SAFE position."

"Because the safety of our customers is our primary concern, FN is voluntarily issuing a recall to address this newly discovered issue involving the safety and advising all owners of the FN 502 Tactical to suspend use of their pistol and return the pistol to FN for repair or replacement in accordance with the recall instructions."

"FN 502 Tactical pistols with a serial number lower than LR010300 are subject to this recall. To prevent the possibility of serious personal injury or death."

Sorry for a typo in the list of classes we posted the other day. The April 9th class is Defensive 1, not 2. Defensive 1 is a starting point for more than casual shooting that leads to Defensive 2, which is a more advanced class requiring some advanced training such as Defensive 1. Dan had posted asking what was the course description. Here you go:

Defensive 1 is a 4-hour course is designed for shooters who are looking to advance their skill level past the basics of load, aim, shoot. In this class we will learn the fundamentals of multiple target engagement, shot sequence, malfunction clearing, and different types of reloads. Before taking this class you should be confident with handing your weapon, loading your weapons, and have a solid foundation to basic shooting principles. It is recommended that you have completed some prior training and have some prior experience. This is not designed for a brand new shooter (our Fundamentals course serves that purpose).

Required Gear:
• Semi Automatic H-gun
• Minimum of 2 magazines (3-4 preferred)
• A Holster, OWB or IWB are acceptable (no ankle or shoulder)
• Ear and Eye protection (rentals are available)
• Minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition (More is preferred to get the maximum out of the class)
Class requires pre-registration. No walk in's. A deposit is also required to hold your position as class size is limited. Call us at 330-953-2030 or stop in to sign up.

FYI: FN Announces a Safety Bulletin for the FN 502 Tactical™ .22LR Pistol

FN has become aware that on a very limited number of FN 502 Tactical pistols in the field, an internal component of the manual safety may be improperly installed. In these cases, the external safety lever will not function as designed and may result in unintended firing. To ensure the pistol’s safe operation, FN is asking owners of the FN 502 Tactical to suspend use of pistols with serial number range below LR007999 and perform a function check to verify the manual safety is operating correctly, following the function check guide located here .

In the FN 502 Tactical service bulletin, consumers are encouraged to perform the function check independently and contact FN Customer Service if they have any additional questions. The times they are a changing! Starting Monday November 1st we will switch to WInter Hours. Winter Hours will be:

Mon to Thursday 10 am to 7 pm
Friday 10 am to 8 pm
Saturday 9 am to 8 pm
Sunday 10 am to 6 pm
These hours will remain in place until May 1st.

As always we take our last shooter at 50 minutes prior to close.

Holiday Hours: We will have normal hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday but we will be closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday. We will reopen Tuesday to normal hours. Thanks!

A reminder that starting tomorrow, May 1st, The Training Range will switch to our summer hours. We will basically be closing an hour earlier. Hours will be Mon to Sat 10 am to 7 pm, Sunday 11 to 6. Summer hours last until Oct 1st. It may take a few days for these changes to reflect on Facebook, Google, etc. so please share this post. Thanks!

We'll be opening a temporary classroom, Classroom #2, which will be located in the front of our plaza at 4429 Mahoning Ave. We are making use of a section of the plaza that is for lease until someone leases it. This will let us add several more training classes a month to our schedule. The first one is our Concealed Carry Class on Jan 24th. Those enrolled will start their training at that location which is right around the corner in the same plaza we are in. Then finish the firearms portion here at the range. Thanks!

We have revised an often requested course which has been posted under the "Events" tab here on Facebook for Jan 30th. It's called Defensive Handgun 1. We ran this once and based on feedback we downed the hours to five. The cost is $85.00 now.

Course covers proper fundamentals, marksmanship under stress, introduction into cover/concealment, weapons manipulations, reloads, introduction into strong hand only/weak hand only shooting, and more. Course includes approx. 3 hours in classroom and 2 hours on our indoor range. Consider this stage 2 if you have ever taken an entry level course.
