Changes in CAPS Funding Based on Priority Group

Georgia Dept of Early Care & Learning

2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SE, Suite 754, East Tower, Atlanta, GA 30334
(404) 656-5957

Nathan Deal - Governor
Amy M. Jacobs - Commissioner

Beginning August 1, 2016, Georgia will institute a statewide funding restriction for the Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program. On that date only applicants who meet eligibility requirements AND who are a member of a priority group as defined in CAPS policy will be approved to receive child care assistance. CAPS policy defines priority groups as people who demonstrate the greatest need for child care assistance. A list of priority groups and the eligibility requirements can be viewed at http://caps.decal.ga.gov.

Georgia is instituting the funding restriction to ensure that the state is following federal guidelines mandated by the reauthorization of the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG). As part of the changes resulting from reauthorization, the CAPS program will raise the reimbursement rates for child care providers caring for children through CAPS. To maintain the state¿s prescribed CAPS funding without terminating child care assistance to families currently participating in the program, it is necessary to prioritize new families enrolling in CAPS based on specific needs.

Families currently participating in CAPS will be assessed for eligibility at their redetermination date that occurs after October 1, 2016. Families who are eligible but who are not a member of a priority group at redetermination may be eligible for short term child care assistance to transition off the CAPS program.

For additional information, visit www.CAPS.decal.ga.gov and read the Frequently Asked Questions about priority group based funding by clicking here.

Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) The Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program assists families with the cost of safe, high-quality early child care education.

Chrissy Teigan looks amazing heading to her baby shower! How is that she can still pull off this outfit while being pregnant? Its so mind blowing. In most cases, expected mothers find it hard to wear something this fitting and fabulous because of their baby weight. A woman should never feel as if she can not wear something stylish because of her pregnant belly. It seems healthier to encourage those to embrace their beautiful pregnant selves than to tell them to get on a certain diet.

If you want to stay healthy while pregnant, many expected mothers suggest dieting is the last thing you should do. Restricting food intake might not be the best decision while your pregnant. Yes it is agreed you can restrict yourself from drinking soda, and eating foods like raw meats, and undercooked things, yes they are definitely bad for you. Other than that, a bowl of ice cream is perfectly fine!

There are some safe exercises to do that'll keep your cardio up while pregnant. Suggested exercises like, swimming, and aerobics are highly recommended.

Statistics state that more pregnant women have happier pregnancies than those who still diet while they're pregnant. Being pregnant is a beautiful thing, embrace the baby bumps everywhere! Chrissy Teigan surely doesn't mind embracing hers.

The actress Hayden Panettiere, widely known for her role on Nashville has been trailblazing her way through her career. Leaving a big imprint with not one, but two successful tv shows (Heroes, Nashville). She has found time to impact the world with her singular talent. Recently, the actress started a family, and has settled down a little. It was reported that she was going through some troubles after giving birth to her first baby girl. Some first time mothers find it harder than others dealing with the demanding task, and emotional toils of having a new baby. This is called postpartum depression.

The signs of postpartum depression may be vary, but it can demonstrate the lack of responsive behavior needed to care for a infant. With support from a significant other or a family member, and the right coping mechanisms, it can be treated. Here are a few healthy ways to deal with postpartum depression.

Get enough sleep.
This may be a hard task to accomplish with a crying baby every 2 hours, but it is important that you find the time for yourself to recharge, and relax.

Call friends.
It helps to arrange something with your friends, and other family member every now and then. You can always have a good chat when your feeling down.

Let yourself cry.
Your hormones are out of control at this time, and it helps to let out some tears to get through day. It's normal to feel sad, and constantly worried about things.

Ask for help.
When it gets to be too overwhelming to it is always good to ask for help. Confide it your partner, or a friend.

Eat healthy.
There are some foods that can help reduce stress, and enhance your serotonin levels, like dark chocolate, bluberries, and green veggies.

After labor, mothers encounter a major drop in estrogen and progesterone hormone levels. Thyroid levels can drop to, which prompts exhaustion, fatigue, and sadness. These quick hormonal changes—alongside the adjustments of being a new mom doesn't make it easier. This can definitely trigger postpartum depression.

Each year approximately 950,000 women are suffering postpartum depression. Having a baby can make you feel like an emotional train wreck, but you are not alone. Like Hayden, if it gets to feel to much for you, it is best to talk to a doctor, or take action in getting the right help you need. If you're experiencing postpartum depression, there should be no reason for you to feel guilty or embarrassed. The side effects of postpartum depression are outside of your control, and they don't make you an awful mother or a terrible person. On the other hand, the decision to get treatment is in your control. This shows what a good mother you are by evaluating yourself, and seeking the immediate help you need to care for your baby.
