Kiddie Academy of White Plains

Kiddie Academy of South Reno held their second annual silent art auction this year to support the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides invaluable assistance to families with children battling cancer.

Talented young artists at the Academy created art pieces that were featured at the auction. Over the past two years, Academy staff and families collectively raised $2,200. Not only did the event raise money for a worthy cause, but it also helped build a sense of community among our families.

“Reno is a small community, but it is a tight knit one. The families, teachers, and staff are all committed to helping others, and they are always looking for ways to give back to the community,” shared Franchisee Andrew Sizemore. “Our silent auction was just one example of their generosity and compassion.”

Sharing the fun fireworks across Westchester!!

Make time each day to practice mindfulness.

Looking for a fun playtime activity for your toddler? All you need is 30 minutes, some spaghetti, and other supplies you have at home. Cook the spaghetti and then place the cooled cooked spaghetti into a large sandwich bag. Invite your child to add a few drops of food coloring and shake the bag until the spaghetti is coated with color. Place the colored spaghetti in a plastic bin and invite your child to explore. To all the incredible dads out there, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for everything you do! As a preschool, we've had the privilege of witnessing your unwavering love, support, and dedication, and we couldn't be more grateful. 💙 From playing superhero to being a trusted confidant, you fill our little ones' lives with boundless joy, encouragement, and endless laughter. The great outdoors can be the best classroom of all. Next time you are playing outside, invite your 2-year-old to help make cloud dough to encourage fine motor development. Blend eight parts flour to one part oil (i.e., 8 cups flour to 1 cup oil, or 4 cups flour to 1/2 cup oil). Encourage your child to feel and describe the dry ingredient (flour) and the wet ingredient (oil) before you mix the two. Allow your child to help knead the dough with his or her hands. Discuss how the resulting mixture might feel like a cloud, and encourage your child to play with and manipulate the dough. Mindful Minutes Make time each day to practice mindfulness.

Listen to your child! These activities are meant to be fun, never stressful or forced upon him or her. Let your child show you what his or her interests are and then modify our activities to match those interests. Maybe include animals or vehicles if that is what he or she loves! Just remember to be flexible. It is okay if the learning goes in a different direction. Your child is still learning valuable skills and spending quality one-on-one time with you.
