Breached water plant employees used the same TeamViewer password and no firewall

We frequently get pushback from clients who don't want adequate security in place in the name of simplicity. This is a prime example of what happens when you aren't willing to put the right safeguards in place. The world has become too complex, and the Internet can be a dangerous place.

Breached water plant employees used the same TeamViewer password and no firewall Shortcomings illustrate the lack of security rigor in critical infrastructure environments.

Microsoft Teams is making sharing files a whole lot easier

Due to remote working policies, file sharing over Microsoft Teams has increased substantially. This has led to some concern that sensitive information could be at risk should unauthorized personnel manage to gain access to a call.

With MS Teams’ newest feature, users can set permissions around the files stored in Teams, as well as those saved via other Microsoft cloud storage tools.

With the cloud based sharing system we built for AES, tasks that had taken 3-4 steps are reduced to one simple action.

Technicians on a job site can now track crew time, order supplies, and create invoices for work done on the fly. Databases are automatically updated, invoices are automatically generated, and errors have been reduced to virtually zero.

We understand that our clients need precise IT solutions that can’t fail. This is especially true in the Biotech industry when working with human diseases such as COVID-19, AIDS, and Zika. As one of the most highly-regulated industries in the world, the seemingly small things are critical. When a local biotech company (which has asked to remain anonymous) came to us requesting an IT audit we found a host of problems.

Servers and network drives were regularly failing, Wi-Fi was unavailable in parts of the campus, and the company relied on antiquated communication and documentation systems, putting data security at risk.

The InfoPathways team did not just recognize these issues, we helped solve them. We moved the company from being hardware dependent to cloud based which improved efficiency and security while providing universal accessibility. We also provided them with reliable, redundant WiFi that worked everywhere, and at half the cost. Finally, we standardized all IT practices and developed documentation so everyone on the team could maintain consistency and work efficiently and securely together. The human IT solutions that we provided significantly reduced risk and the burden of administrative tasks for the company.
