The Parent Guides will educate, encourage, and empower parents who have children attending Carroll County Public Schools. To help all students achieve in Carroll County Public Schools, the Parent Guides will assist other parents within a regional school community to establish an environment of acceptance and respect.
The Parent Guides will use a variety of skills and strategies to foster a positive relationship between home and school, and to help parents understand and negotiate the school system’s policies and procedures. The Parent Guides will build a collaborative climate in which parents are comfortable sharing their concerns with school staff who are involved with their children’s educational success.

Welcome to all our new followers! The Parent Guide program is still active and we are here to help.
Parent Guides are volunteers, trained by Carroll County Public
Schools (CCPS), to be a support for parents. This support can take many forms, from assistance in navigating the school system, to knowing where to get answers to questions, to helping to find the right person to solve a problem, or to just lend an ear.

The Carroll County League of Women Voters will be hosting an informational forum with the Candidates for the Board of Education on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. The forum will be held at the Community Media Center and will be broadcast live on Channel 19 as well as being streamed on the media center web site.

Carroll League of Women Voters will be co-hosting with the Carroll County Times, the Community Media Center and WTTR 1470 Candidate Forums this month. The first is this evening at the North Carroll Senior Center at 7 PM.

We are very pleased with our Community Forum on Common Core State Standards and PARCC Assessments last night. We a had a large turnout from the community, the speakers gave very informative presentations, and the Q&A helped sort out the concerns of the public.
From the feedback we have been receiving, it was a very successful event. Look forward to more forums in the future.
In case you couldn't make it, or you wanted to go back over the information again, it was filmed and we will make a announcement when it will be aired on channel 21.

Key club is an international and student-led organization which provides opportunities to serve others, build character, and develop leadership. KEY stands for Kiwanis educating youth! The WHS Key Club meets every other Monday after school for 1 hour.
