Dr. Pier's group will begin after winter break and there's still space to join! Just email her!
Eryn Perry '21, the Outstanding Senior in computer science, has discovered that field overlaps nicely with her other major in neuroscience.

“A lot of research in neuroscience involves computation and predicting and using models, so computer science, data mining, and machine-learning skills come in handy with that type of research," she says. "But then additionally, a lot of modeling in the realm of computer science is taking inspiration from biological systems."

She is part of the Wartburg Scholars Program and the Academically and Civically Engaged Scientists Scholarship Program (ACES), as well an executive member for Wartburg College Service Trips. Eryn plans to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Southern California.

Her experience at Wartburg has empowered her as a woman in STEM.

“I’ve definitely gained a lot more confidence being a female in computer science," she says. "Wartburg has taught me that it’s okay to have confidence in myself. I know there will probably be some obstacles in my way, just being female, but I’ve been fortunate to not feel that at Wartburg."

Congrats, Eryn! 🎓

Fancy Dorms Aren’t The Main Reason Tuition Is Skyrocketing

In Iowa, 110% of tuition hikes are explained by state funding per student cuts. That means that 10% of those cuts aren't even covered by the increases in tuition.

Fancy Dorms Aren’t The Main Reason Tuition Is Skyrocketing In 2000, Temple University was primarily a commuter school. On-campus dorms could house fewer than 4,000 students out of a total student body of more than 30,000. Most facilities were badly outdate…
