Combining honors studies and life experiences for a deep, enhanced education. What is the Wartburg Scholars Program? The Scholar's Program is what Wartburg College calls its Honors program.
The program admits 30 first year students. Students apply from High School and students are notified as of their acceptance by the end of April. Although this program is not tied in with Wartburg College's Scholarship awards, it is often these students who qualify to apply to the Scholars Program. What are the advantages of the program? Happy Senior Sunday! Today's senior is Payton Brinkman!!
Payton is from Cassville, WI and is studying Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology. Payton has been active in campus actives by participating in Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, Castle Singers, and WSMTA. Some of her favorite hobbies include playing the piano, duck hunting, reading, and playing volleyball or basketball.
While at Wartburg, Payton was able to travel to Europe with Wartburg Castle Singes and Japan with Wartburg Wind Ensemble. Payton reflected on her experiences by saying "These experiences have introduced me to cultures and humanity that I would have never otherwise have the chance to experience."
After Wartburg, Payton's goal is to become a board-certified music therapist and practice in a variety of populations. Her dream job is a music therapy position that allows her to collaborate with other therapies and therapists in treating patients.
Payton's favorite memory from the scholars program was partaking in the annual Christmas party white elephant game.

It's Senior Sunday and today we're recognizing Gabby Rohrer!
Gabby is from Oconomowoc, WI and is studying engineering science with minors in leadership and mathematics. She is a part of dance marathon, the student athlete advisory committee, ACES Scholar, and she's on the women's soccer team. Also, big congrats to the women's soccer team on their conference champs win last night!!!
Some of Gabby's hobbies are painting, watching tv, and spending time with friends. While at Wartburg, she has worked for the engineering department and has an internship with VJS Construction Services. Wartburg has given Gabby the opportunity to travel abroad, play on the soccer team, and form friendships that will last a lifetime. Gabby's favorite part of the scholars program is the friends she's made.
Gabby is still working on her plans after graduation, but her dream job involves something that will make a difference such as being an engineer behind a project that helps the environment or community.

Happy Senior Sunday! Today's Senior is Hailey Schmitz!
Hailey is from Plainfield, IA and is studying Neuroscience with a minor in Leadership. She is involved in so many things here at Wartburg including the Wartburg Dance Team, President of Wartburg Ambassadors, Dance Marathon, Orientation Staff, Baldwin Fellowship, and NSLS! Hailey works as a CNA at Bartel's Lutheran Retirement Community and she also works in the admissions office. Some of her favorite things include dancing and being outdoors. Wartburg has given Hailey the opportunity to attend the United States Air Force Academy for the National Character and Leadership Symposium. Hailey plans to attend medical school after Wartburg and fulfill her dream career of becoming a doctor. Hailey's favorite memory from the scholars program is our Christmas party with the white elephant gift exchange.

Happy Senior Sunday: Today's Senior is Cade Pederson!
Class of 2020 Scholar Cade Pederson is graduating early in December with a degree in Neuroscience. He is from Lanesboro, MN and some of his favorite hobbies are reading, being outdoors, sitting on his porch rocking chair, and collecting maps/letter openers and books. While at Wartburg, Cade has been an active member in TriBeta and worked as a WRSL Consultant. After Wartburg, Cade plans to go to law school. Some of the different area's of study Cade is considering are health, mediation, environmental, and estate law. Cade's dream job is to be an FBI Director. Wartburg was able to provide Cade with opportunities to travel to Costa Rica and see Sean Astin. Cade's favorite part about being a Wartburg Scholar is attending the open houses.

It's Senior Sunday!! Today, we recognize Lilly Even for all of her amazing accomplishments while at Wartburg!
Class of 2020 Scholar Lillian Even is graduating with a degree in biology. Her hometown is Chaska, MN and some of her favorite hobbies are knitting, fish keeping, and hammocking. She's been an active member in the Wartburg community by partaking in band, lacrosse, and is a library student manager! Wartburg has given Lilly the opportunity to travel to Peru and intern at the Como Zoo in St Paul, MN. Lilly's goals are to find a career with her degree that has a positive impact on the environment. Her dream job is being a zookeeper, preferably with fish🐠 Lilly has been an active member in the Scholars program by being a class representitive for two years now! Her favorite memory from the scholars program was craving pumpkins and eating chili at Dr. Zart's for Halloween.
