Frassati Catholic Academy - Elementary & Middle School

Frassati Catholic Academy is a regional model Preschool-8th Grade school for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Frassati Catholic Academy - Elementary & Middle School - formerly known as the Catholic Consortium of Lake County is a school that serves the greater area of Lake County and surrounding communities, specifically servicing the communities of Mundelein and Wauconda and the parishes of St. Mary of the Annunciation and Santa Maria of Mundelein and Transfiguration of Wauconda. Our school serves students from Early Education through 8th grade. Our school has two campuses: Mundelein (preschool – 5th grade) and Wauconda (preschool – 8th grade). We offer full and half day Preschool, as well as Extended Day programs, before and after school. Transportation is made easy for our families, as we have multiple school bus stops and convenient transportation between both campus locations and in our surrounding areas. Our graduates place in honor classes in high school and furthermore go on to attend some of the best collegiate institutions in the country. Our school students thrive in a nurturing and spiritual environment while being challenged daily by our arduous academic programming. Students learn values that complement their family’s faith formation and learn to become peacemakers in their communities, as Pier Giorgio Frassati had. Our unique school allows our students to be diversified, while still being able to receive the individual attention they need to succeed and grow. We hope you will browse our site and learn more about what Frassati Catholic Academy has to offer.

Mission: Families choose Frassati Catholic Academy - Elementary & Middle School for many reasons. Our preschool program offers a solid foundation for kindergarten readiness while providing a caring, faith-based learning environment for children to build social skills and grow. The rigorous, well-rounded academic coursework in both elementary and middle school challenges students to grow academically, socially and spiritually. Frassati prepares students for high school and beyond. Students and families love our small school setting and caring teaching staff where each student is valued, nurtured and challenged. We partner with parents to provide a solid foundation of Catholic faith formation and believe it is through activities such as daily prayer in the classroom, weekly Mass, special prayer services and celebrations, as well as the integration of faith throughout the curriculum that our children can develop a personal relationship with Christ.

Embryology is the science that deals with the growth and development of an embryo. All birds lay eggs, which provide protection and nutrition for the developing embryo. Most people are familiar with chicken eggs because they are commonly found in our kitchens. Watching a fertile chicken egg develop can be an effective way to study embryology, investigate how organisms change and develop over time, and increase excitement and teamwork in the classroom.

HOLY THURSDAY

John 13: 12-17

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

Living Stations of the Cross presented by our very own Jr. High students.

The Stations of Cross is a series of 14 artistic images that depict the Passion of the Christ and His crucifixion. Many Catholics and others use these images to pray and reflect on the last hours of Jesus Christ. It originally began as a Roman Catholic devotion and is commonly done during the season of Lent, and especially on Good Friday.

The traditional 14 Stations of the Cross are: (1) Jesus is condemned to death, (2) Jesus accepts the cross, (3) Jesus falls the first time, (4) Jesus meets His Mother, (5) Simon of Cyrene carries the cross, (6) Veronica wipes the face of Jesus, (7) Jesus falls the second time, (8) Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem, (9) Jesus falls the third time, (10) Jesus is stripped of His garments, (11) Crucifixion: Jesus is nailed to the cross, (12) Jesus dies on the cross, (13) Jesus’ body is removed from the cross and (14) Jesus is laid in the tomb and covered in incense.

We are blessed to have the opportunity to instill such impactful experiences, traditions, values and lessons in our students at Frassati Catholic Academy. Happy Holy Week!

Congratulations to our Spelling Bee competitors from last week! We are so proud of you!

5th grader Ryan Z., 6th grader Elizabeth Q. and 7th grader Jaoquin C. qualified for the State Spelling Bee on April 6th in Chatham, IL.

We had a great day of Showcasing our Robotics Teams Saturday in Grayslake!

Special congratulations goes out to two of our teams who scored awards:

1. The team PMI (Pathetic Management, Inc) made up of Vicki D, Josh P, Mariano R, Julio S, Abby T (& Mikey M who couldn't make the showcase) were awarded the "Judges Award" which is given to a team selected by the Judges who stood out to them. This is a very important award because it shows how well the team presented itself at the Showcase and what effort they put in even if they didn't score the most points during the table runs. Great job to this group of 7th & 8th graders!

2. Impressively. the team r011y pu113ys (Rolly Pulleys) made up Stephanie A, Daniel D, Alex F, Corrigan H, Kyle S & Lauren Z took home one of the top 2 awards of the Showcase: The Grand Champion! This award is given out to the team that performed best across all the categories (3 table runs, the tech judging and the teamwork challenge). We are all very proud of these 6th & 7th graders!

Huge thank you to Roger Huner, Kirk Steckenrider, Fred Strobl and Gina Strelecki, as well as the middle school teachers and Ms. Kleckner.

Father O'Reilly celebrated 60 years this past week and our supporting parish Santa Maria del Popolo threw him an amazing birthday bash! #trulyblessed #thankyouforyourservice #happybirthday
