PHILANTHROPY – “THE desire to improve the welfare of others, expressed esp. by the donation of money and volunteer time to good causes.”

We have been blessed by donations from Watonga alumni to help with the Creative Space (Watonga Arts Center) we are trying to open on Main Street. Though these people have moved away from the Watonga area, they recognize the need here for both educational and economic development opportunities and support our efforts. That is really selfless giving and we are so thankful for their encouragement.

NEW NAME: Watonga ArtWorks -- An educational space to make art, hear music, storytelling, poetry, and experience the joy of THE ARTS hands-on

Operating as usual

Dear friends,
Our art space is still in need of funds to put in an HVAC system. We have been operating on a generator for electricity and fans for air conditioning.
We've been looking for a grant and have found that grants specifically exclude that funds be used for "capital improvements or construction," so grant money is not an option. We have to rely on the generosity of arts patrons for donations.
You can help us reach our goal of getting an HVAC system this year with a donation to Phoenix Circle Foundation, via Paypal at '[email protected]' or mail a check to 111 E. Main St., watonga, OK 73772. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a receipt for your donation will be provided. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Blaine County OK Community

We have received $75 in response to our PAYPAL FUNDRAISER for a solar electric system at the Watonga Artworks building (GOAL is $2,500 by June 15).

Though this effort benefits the people and town of Watonga and Blaine County, surprisingly those donations have come from out of state from people who believe in our mission. Donations from local individuals and businesses are needed and appreciated.

Donate via paypal at '[email protected]' or by check to 111 E. Main St., Watonga, OK 73772. A receipt for your tax-deductible donation will be provided. Every penny received by PCF between now and June 15 will go toward the solar electric system. We have no other expenses pending at this time.
Thanks to all who are supporting our work in Watonga, OK!

Please send this post to anyone you know is a charitable giver, and anyone who believes in the arts as a significant part of a child's education. We want the kids to have a great experience with art this summer! THANKS!!

ART for FUNds

We have found that facebook GROUPs are a good way to communicate with people interested in a particular subject, so we've set up a WATONGA ARTS GROUP page and invite friends and supporters to join that group to get current information on what is happening to get the Watonga Arts Center open, and other activities and events relating to art, music, dance, theater, writing, including ART for FUND$ fundraising opportunities for your cause or organization.

Here's a great idea!

COUNTY WIDE CARDINAL ARTIST PROJECT TO ENHANCE MARION STREETSCAPES.

The cardinals are coming to Marion and they need your help! Artists from Marion City and County are encouraged to submit a design to bring these birds to life. Envisioned and led by Dean Jacob, president and CEO of Marion Community Foundation and lifelong resident of Marion, along with a team of interested community members, this grass roots art project sponsored by Downtown Marion, Inc., will be the first of its kind in Marion, Ohio.

The birds, designed to promote community pride, will help to enhance the city streetscape and will be placed at various locations along Center, Church, and Main Streets in the Downtown. The statues are all being created and donated by local sculptor and artist, Merle Randolph. There will be seventeen cardinals in total, a nod to Ohio being the 17th state, and each cardinal will be 6 feet tall by 5 feet long. The designs for the cardinals are fair game for the artists’ imagination with themes relating to local landmarks, local history, famous local people, Ohio history, patriotism, Ohio and Marion Pop culture.

With the financial support of the Marion Ohio Rotary Club and many other community partners donating their time, talent, and materials, the goal is to have these State of Ohio birds placed throughout the downtown later this year.

If you or someone you know would like to submit an artistic design for consideration, this is your chance to have your artwork on permanent display downtown. All entries must be submitted to either Downtown Marion, Inc., Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, or Marion Community Foundation by no later than 5:00pm on March 31, 2017.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support, through prayers, sharing our vision, and your financial donation. Drew has given Andy a "deadline" to get elec. and water on by mid-March. They have both been working on the interior of the building where the studio space and classroom spaces will be. Once the weather gets warmer, the work will go a lot quicker. We can only make this happen with YOUR support!!

Red Carpet Country

This art center in Guymon s putting into practice what Phoenix Circle Foundation has been working on for Watonga for two years. It shows what a collaboration between private enterprises, nonprofit organizations, and city government can accomplish toward a town's economic development. We're on board with the Oklahoma Arts Council, a private nonprofit foundation, and several local business people. Maybe by next summer we'll have our space ready on Main Street for a summer camp for OUR children!!

Returning to Summer Art Camp 2016 is Josh Hogge of Texhoma, who brings his diverse skills and creative work in 3D artwork, with a focus on ceramics, pottery.
