Check it out! The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington girl's basketball teams from Clubhouse 14 and Jellef faced off in a scrimmage and were joined by a surprise guest Washington Wizards mascot G-Wiz!

The girls received swag bags, with jump ropes, cones, headbands, socks and other sports equipment. AND each young lady will receive a personalized jersey with their name on it for participating.

BGCGW and Crown Castle team up for Club care and STEM education.

Crown Castle kicked off its two year commitment with Boys & Girls Clubs of America by working locally with BGCGW's Ox Hill Club. Multiple visits to beautify, install equipment and host STEM activities are planned for 2023 and 2024.

The first initiative for Crown Castle began with indoor and outdoor activities around playground upgrades. Next up, holiday gift drop offs and a summertime STEM workshop.

BGCGW blooms as National Cherry Blossom Festival and ChaseBank plant trees.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival planted ten trees at Richard England Clubhouse 14.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival's Neighborhood Tree Planting Program collaborates with schools, civic groups and community groups throughout DC’s eight wards to plant new trees and educate groups about tree care and maintenance.

The community celebration is part of Chase’s efforts to expand its service to the community beyond providing financial resources.

BGCGW's "STEM Week" takes tech to new levels with Apple and the American Association of Blacks in Energy.

While November 8th is recognized as "National STEM Day," BGCGW expanded its celebration to a week of activities.

Club members spent the week exploring careers and diving into circuits and coding.

Some Clubs visited to the Apple Carnegie Library Store for coding instruction, while Club teens heard from a panel of engineers.

Joe’s Kids is an initiative to help scale leadership programming for youth. The goal is to equip Club kids with the network, capabilities and mindsets critical for their career and future. We never turn a kid away from our Clubs. Through the Joe's Kids Fund, we can continue to provide access to annual memberships and programming to youth in the Greater Washington Area including Maryland and Virginia. Congratulations to DESA alumna Asha Haddox-Rossiter (Vocal Music, 2022)! Asha was recently selected as the 2022 National Youth of the Year for the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Aspiring to be the future President of the United States, Asha is a first-year undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, majoring in Public Management, Leadership, and Policy. Her goal is to work closely with D.C. City Council to address key issues in her local community and nationwide, including education equity and food insecurity.

As the highest honor a Club member can receive, the National Youth of the Year represents Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the voices of over four million Club youth it serves. For 75 years, the Youth of the Year program has recognized young people for their outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.

The first annual "Greatest Big Kid" was held at Virginia's Hylton Boys & Girls Club.

The region-wide competition crowned Montgomery County Club kid, Zuri, and her mentor, Bernita Bailey from Truist Bank.

Qualifying mentor/mentee teams initially competed within their own regions to choose "Great Big Kid" representatives, and then came together to compete for a "Greatest Big Kid" winner.
