Did you know that breast cancer accounts for 1 in 3 of all new female cancers each year? It is the second most common cancer in women in the United States after skin cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2023, there will be approximately 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed in American women. The incidence rate has been increasing each year, so as dietetic professionals, it is essential that we stay up-to-date on dietary strategies that decrease risk, complement treatment, and support survivorship. This month, we encourage you to take time to refresh your oncology nutrition knowledge by visiting the Academy's website or the American Institute for Cancer Research's page on nutrition tips for cancer prevention and cancer survival.
