I am hearing rumors here in Richmond, VA to avoid the DC area tomorrow. Not even get on the subway and other public transportation. Hope it's nothing. Be careful my d.c. friends!
Hello! I am looking for a Live-in Nanny for three children.

Monday through Friday

Children: 4th, 6th and 8th grade, Catholic schools.

Applicant must be experienced with childcare, highly motivated, organized and energetic nanny for driving, grocery shopping, cleanup kids areas, homework & chore management, sports/activities signups, simple cooking. Only native speakers, American citizens/permanent residents. Able to multi-task, loves dogs (we have two). Very comfortable and roomy separate live in space in new home, may use spacious home gym. One year commitment—minimum. Two year highly preferred. College or associate degree.

We love our nannies—they’ve all been part of our family!

Excellent pay.

References and full background check required.

Please email [email protected] if you are interested. Thank you.
Dear Nannies,
Many in the ADCAN community know Sharlotte Beecher, a long time MD/DC nanny and dear friend. Sadly, yesterday her sister, Fiona, passed away unexpectedly. If you'd like to reach out and send a card to her I think she'd appreciate it.
Her address is:
850 Del Rhodes Ave
Queenstown, MD 21658
Thanks everyone 💜
Meg
Sharlotte Beecher and I are going to meet for dinner (open to switching to lunch if that's better) on Saturday, August 10th @5 at Hemingway's on Kent Island. We'd love for ADCAN friends to come, please reply if you can join us!
Hello, Facebook fam!

I am only a few weeks away from my college graduation and beginning a new career! This is a very exciting time, but bittersweet in that this means I will no longer be working as the nanny of my four favorite little friends.

I am hoping one of you has a lead as to where they might find a responsible and trustworthy person to step in as their new nanny. There is a girl who is 14, boy and girl twins who are 12, and a girl who is 10.

Looking for someone who is available from 2:30 to 6 or so in the Potomac area, can drive, and is good at managing multiple demands. This job was a godsend for me while I have worked my way through school, and would be a great fit for a college student or someone looking for part-time work that has experience with kids and animals.

Open to any and all suggestions! You know I won't trust them to just anybody.

Feel free to message me directly.
Thank you in advance!
How much would you charge in a deal like this:
- Nanny share
- two toddlers (2yo)
- Full-time job (45hs week)
Please consider: - I already get paid $20/hour taking care of one special need kid for a different family and I am just trying to understand if this deal is worth the double work with two toddlers for extra $4

Thank you so much!
Hi! I'm looking for more, preferably free social activities to get my 20m boy involved in. We were going to toddler/caregiver yoga for a few weeks but now the program is unavailable for the summer. We went to a DCPS outdoor story time in China town today and were the only ones there :( we want to make friends! We are in NE between brookland and Mt. Rainer. Any tips would be appreciated.

Excellent tips from White House Nannies, Inc.

⛱If you’re planning to travel with a nanny, here are a few tips you need to know:

⏰Compensation: The nanny must be paid for hours worked. By law, anything over 40 hours considered overtime (paid at 1.5x their hourly rate). Yes. It is a big expense to bring the nanny. But even if you are taking them to a beautiful destination, a ”free vacation” does not equal pay for working during your trip.

🗓Schedule: Discuss and set a general work schedule ahead of time. Decide if the nanny will follow their regular hours or if it will be adjusted. Are you going to want coverage during the evenings or over the weekend?

💰Expenses: The nanny’s travel, lodging and meals should be covered.

🏖Vacation vs Trip: Your vacation is a work trip for the nanny. Without the nanny, travel with your children is a “trip,” NOT a vacation. The nanny will be working so that you can actually have a vacation.

❗️Share with someone who you think needs to know these tips!

Nannies are Professionals Doing Very Important Work

FREE CHAT Acting as Your Own HR Department

Sunday, March 14th, 2021 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET

As nannies, we don’t have an HR department to be the middleman between us and employers. If a nanny is lucky enough to be placed by a truly good agency, the agency will take on that role. However, most nannies find themselves on their own. In this chat we’ll talk about meaningful ways you can be your own advocate from before hire to long into the employment relationship. We’ll also share ways to navigate working with agencies who fail to support you and how to protect your own interests when needed.

Build a Shoebox Online!

Our friend and local nanny Anne Kearney is serving as the DMV team leader for NannyChellasGiving. It is a community-oriented sisterhood of professional nannies on an interactive mission to provide economic and educational resources for the less fortunate. We offer helping hands and generous hearts to enhance the quality of life within our community and create a positive shift towards a more balanced society.

This year DC has selected the organization Operation Christmas Child. Their mission is to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local churches worldwide. Since 1993, more than 178 million children in more than 150 countries have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The project delivers not only joy, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love. See more at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/

How to get involved? How do I send a box: 1. Find a shoebox. 2. Decide if you would like to make a gift for a boy or girl. The age ranges are 2-4, 5-9, 10-14.3. Fill with gifts. Select a medium to large "wow" item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. 4. Donate 9 dollars online and receive a label to follow your box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift. 5. Drop Off. Take your shoebox gift to a local drop-off location during National Collection Week, November 14-23.

Or

You can buy one online. (This is the option I am choosing) https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline/

Nanny Chella is making a video. Please send Anne Kearney a high quality photo of you with your box or order by October 31. If you are ordering online pose with your order confirmation.

Thank you so much for making a difference in the lives of children everyday. Now our friends overseas can experience a bit of your love.
Best, Anne Kearney
