Our Scholars and Alumni were hard at work in Washington D.C. for the DACA Anniversary and Dream Legislation Week of Action last week. That’s why we partnered with organizations like the ’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration to host events and make Hill visits, uplifting our Scholars’ stories and advocating for change.

Today, TheDream.US President and CEO Gaby Pacheco joined leading immigrant rights organizations for a discussion with civil rights attorneys on the intersection of civil rights and immigration to commemorate Dreamers and the 70th Anniversary of Brown V. Board of Education. Black and Latino activists have played key roles in civil rights litigation supporting Dreamers. It's time that we saw progress in ensuring accurate and inclusive education for all members of American society.
As we commemorate the 12th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program on June 15th, we recognize its profound impact on hundreds of thousands of young immigrants who call America home. Despite its transformative effect, DACA remains a temporary solution, facing numerous court challenges and the looming uncertainty of congressional inaction.
Yet, amidst this uncertainty, the voices of DACA recipients and Dreamers continue to resonate with hope and resilience. They embody the spirit of perseverance, contributing significantly to our communities, our economy, and our shared future. Recent polling underscores the broad support for these young immigrants, with over 70% of swing state voters advocating for a pathway to citizenship and more than 75% of battleground state voters supporting work permits for long-standing residents who have passed background checks.
In honor of this significant milestone, we are proud to share the vignettes of TheDream.US Scholars with DACA. These remarkable individuals offer a glimpse into their aspirations and the transformative potential that permanent status could unlock. Their stories are a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of Dreamers and a call to action for bipartisan Dream Legislation.
Join us from June 10th through June 15th, 2024, as we amplify their voices and advocate for a future where Dreamers can live, work, and thrive in the only country they have ever known as home.
Take it from TheDream.US President and CEO Gaby Pacheco, deporting Dreamers would be a disaster to the communities they live in and the country as a whole. Dreamers make lasting contributions to the nation through employment, taxes, culture, and more. That’s why it is so important we find solutions to empower Dreamers to remain in the US. https://baptistnews.com/article/deporting-dreamers-would-be-a-disaster-to-the-communities-where-they-live-and-work/
Deporting Dreamers would be a ‘disaster’ to the communities where they live and work Opposition to DACA makes no economic or political sense for the country and is potentially catastrophic for immigrants raised most of their lives in the United States, experts said during a webinar hosted by the National Immigration Forum. Being a Dreamer can definitely come with its fair share of challenges, but our partner college UNLV has been there every step of the way for our Scholar, Juan! Growing up in East Las Vegas, where the vibrant Hispanic community provided a sense of belonging, Juan navigated the challenges of learning English with the support of his peers and teachers, leading him to pursue a career in law, focusing on immigration.
“I found a lot of self-fulfillment in being able to advocate for others and to stand up for them when they have no grasp of the system and the extent of their rights within the states,” he said. With the help of TheDream.US, we’ve connected Juan with internships, mentorships, and LSAT support because we believe in him, as we believe in all of our Scholars' potential for greatness!

TheDream.US Scholarship Helps Undocumented Student Achieve Career Goals Juan Rubio Pulido joins the first cohort of TheDream.US scholars to graduate from UNLV.
It's graduation season! We are so proud of everything our TheDream.US graduates have accomplished! Among this year’s graduating cohort includes the largest percentage lacking DACA of TPS to-date, yet our Scholars have not wavered in their dedication to their communities and their Dreams of college and career success.
According to Hyein Lee, Chief Operating Officer of TheDream.US, “For me, this graduation season is especially meaningful, as I too will be graduating with the class of 2024. For the past 10 years, I’ve had a front row seat to the incredible determination, talents and achievements of our Scholars. As I cross the stage on June 7th to receive my PhD in Sociology, my degree is deeply informed by the more than 4,000 Scholars who have graduated with TheDream.US. Our data and engagement with these alumni show how important a college degree and work authorization are for our Scholars and their fellow Dreamers. Nearly all, 97 percent, of our past TheDream.US alumni have DACA, TPS, or have now obtained permanent residency and are demonstrating their motivations to work hard and give back to their families and communities. Thanks to these protections and opportunities and their own talents, 94% of these alumni are employed or self-employed. Sadly, our newest cohort of TheDream.US graduates will face new challenges due to the continued toll of the challenges to DACA. Yet these newest Alumni are just as ready to put their degrees to work and only need the opportunity to demonstrate their own potential to strengthen workplaces, their communities, and the larger nation.”
