Are you a Junior or Senior interested in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict? If so, consider registering for HIST 6801 Readings in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict this spring. Course details are below:
History 6801.10: Readings in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Tuesdays, 5:10 pm - 7:00 pm in Monroe 252
Instructor: Prof. Shira Robinson
This course surveys the key turning points and debates in the history of the Zionist-Palestinian conflict and grapples with the conflict’s historical relationship to other nationalist and settler-colonial struggles in world history. One question that will animate our discussions is how different sources and interpretative methods lend themselves to different kinds of historical arguments, as well as the ways that these sources can be used to challenge official histories and myths. Another pertains to how we can strike an informed balance between structure and agency in our historical analyses: to paraphrase Marx, how we can understand the ways in which people make their own history, but not under conditions of their choosing. By exploring internal divisions within each “side,” we will investigate the ways that reducing the conflict to “two sides” impoverishes our analysis. We will also consider how Palestinian Arabs and Israeli Jews have made not just themselves, but also each other, over the past century of conflict. Students with 50+ credits register Wednesdays November 9th
Students with 30+ credits register Thursday November 10th

All credit numbers are based on earned credit (so classes you are in this semester don't count).
No registration occurs on Tuesday November 8th due to the election.
