Join us at the Barnes & Noble at Potomac Yard tomorrow, Saturday April 6th, 2024 from 12-4pm for our RYWD Book Drive!

We’re collecting books for donations to the schools we’ll be visiting in partnership with Reading Partners DC.

All books will be for our mission of promoting literacy and education in the DC community.

The MLK Visionary Award 2024 is now live! Are you or someone you know an AU alum working in the DMV and should be recognized for their work?

The recipient will receive $750 for their organization. The nomination application is open today, November 1st and closes December 1st.

One week ago today we had 125 new Eagles and 33 leaders participate in Explore DC 2023!

We were able to work with 12 amazing community partners and visit 6 different DC neighborhoods.

PVSA is now at AU!!!

The President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is meant to recognize AU students who have committed at least 100 community service hours.

Awards consist of a medal, personalized certificate, and congratulatory letter signed by the President of the United States.

In coordination with the AU Alumni Association, Our 2023 MLK Jr. Visionary Award winner is Nakeesha “ Keesha” Jeanne Ceran. Ms. Ceran serves as the associate director of Teaching for Change. Teaching for Change provides teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write, and change the world. She holds three degrees in Political Science as a proud community college graduate and a double alumna of American University's School of Public Affairs, BA'10 & MA'12. Ms. Ceran maintains a close connection with American University, serving as an alumni volunteer and AUx2 Instructor.

We would like to honor an outstanding member of American University's alumni community that is currently working in the nonprofit sector or in education in the DMV area. The winner of the MLK Visionary Award will receive $750 to go towards their organization.
