It's wild to see how much golf equipment has changed in just over 30 years — and the affect its had on the game is massive. In 1980, the tour average driving distance was 257 yards. Today, the tour average driving distance is 299.9 yards.
Where do you think driving distance will be in another 30 years?

How does a club fitting with TaylorMade’s P-series irons differ for low vs. high handicap golfers?

Mariah (Low HDCP) typically plays the P770s, but during her fitting, she noticed a higher launch and spin than ideal. By switching to the P790s, which have slightly stronger lofts, she was able to optimize her ball flight and dial in the perfect numbers.

Lexi (High HDCP) started with the P7CBs, which felt great on pure strikes but were unforgiving on thin shots. As a higher handicap golfer who occasionally catches shots thin, she transitioned to the P790s. The added forgiveness from the Speed Pocket, which helped maintain distance and consistency, even on mish*ts.

We’re getting down to the wire now… welcome to breaking 100 week 8. If you remember from my first video, I have to break 100 by March 10 to win Josh and I’s bet (for a Chipotle burrito), so it's crunch time. The weakest parts of my game are still chipping and putting, so my coach Bryan gave me these 4 drills to dial in my short game.
1. Chipped with a towel about a club head’s length behind the ball to force my low point forward
2. Chipped from behind a bunker to get my shot up in the air
3. Putting distance control: Placed a tee about 4 feet in front of the hole and then hit one ball between the two markers, a second slightly beyond that, and so forth trying to see how many balls I could squeeze in that space.
4. Putting aim drill: Put two tees a ball width’s apart about 2-3 feet in front of where I was putting from. Tried to get the ball through that space without hitting the tees.
Ended the session by hitting the (very cold) range!
Up next, breaking 100. Wish me luck!

Welcome to week 6 of breaking 100! We are officially 3 weeks away from March 10, so if I can break 100 before then, Josh owes me a burrito. At the beginning of this year, my best score was 110 but I was shooting more consistently in the 110-115 range. My golf game feels super strong, but putting is a different story, so Bryan assigned me the homework this week of playing 9 holes on SKYTRAK with auto putt on (auto calculates # of putts based on distance to the hole) to see what I would score if I took putting out of the equation. He also wanted me to keep track of my greens in regulation, terrible tee shots and other stats which is super easy using the GOLFTEC app. To track your stats during a round just go to the plus sign at the bottom of the app and start a new round. As you score your round you can keep track of how many times you were on the green in regulation, near the green in regulation, when you had a terrible tee shot, when you had a bad 3-putt and more.

All in all, I had just one terrible tee shot, I got on the green in regulation for 6/9 holes, and near the green in regulation for 8/9 holes. I truly am a completely different player than I was just a few months ago, and I can’t wait to dial in my putting with Bryan next lesson and then get that burrito from Josh. Stay tuned for next week!

Did you know Titleist actually "tunes" the sound of their clubs? By using this proprietary matrix polymer, which is 1/3 of the weight of titanium, they can save a ton of weight and redistribute it throughout the club. However, to make it sound like metal instead of carbon, they have to "tune" it. It may look and feel like plastic, but it has that signature Titleist sound.
