Ho Ho Ho! This engraving is from our signed edition of Thomas Nast's 'Christmas Drawings for the Human Race’ in Special Collections (Harper & Row, 1971). Nast (1840-1902) is considered by many to be the foremost political cartoonist of the 19C. He also created the modern version of the Santa Claus, pictured here. Happy holidays, all!

Black Maria! The Southern Oregon State Normal School bus, pictured here in 1905, was affectionately called ‘Black Maria,’ a slang term for a hearse. Each year R. P.
