This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our mission to promote wildlife conservation, continue our research projects in China, and work closely with the San Francisco Zoo to inspire and educate millions. Social opportunities and mate preference improve breeding success in Caribbean iguanas - Scientific Reports 28/11/2023

So excited that our iguana work got published in Scientific Reports over the holiday weekend! So much to be thankful for across our collaborators and zoo partners!

Social opportunities and mate preference improve breeding success in Caribbean iguanas - Scientific Reports Conservation breeding of West Indian rock iguanas (Cyclura) has met with limited success historically. Many facilities witness high levels of aggression and mate incompatibility resulting in failed breeding introductions which often require animals to be separated. This may be due, in part, to lack....

Today really marks the end of an era. These NZP pandas left Washington D.C. today to return to their original home in China. These pandas were literally the start of my panda career. Few people know that I interned with the National Zoo in 2004. Part of that internship was behavioral training on the pandas at NZP. They were such special pandas and I enjoyed visiting the National Zoo cubs and doing my research on them when they were shipped back to China during my PhD. They impacted so many people’s lives and United panda lovers around the world. They were truly ambassadors for their species. Safe flight you two! You will be missed dearly. 💔🐼

An end of an era😰

It's truly the end of an era in Los Angeles. 💔 The Los Angeles Zoo joins our partners at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the greater community in mourning the loss of the incredible “Hollywood” mountain lion known as P-22. His journey and life over the last decade in Griffith Park shed a critical light on human-wildlife coexistence and the importance of habitat connectivity. It is our hope that his legacy continues these important conversations surrounding wildlife in urban areas for years to come. 🌎
