Let's welcome Mr. Moorer to DHS!

Hello! My name is Jacob Moorer, and I am excited to be returning to my alma mater as an associate director of bands and choir director! I received my bachelor's degree in music from the University of Alabama and my master’s degree in music education from Jacksonville State University. I currently live in Whitehouse Fork in Bay Minette, Alabama. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring music technology, watching Alabama football, and spending quality time with my family and friends. Daphne High School holds a special place in my heart, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this community and teach the next generation of trojans!

Welcome Mrs. Hughes to the DHS Family!

I'm Kelly Hughes, and I'm excited to start a new adventure teaching Algebra 2 at DHS! I have a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Spring Hill College (go Badgers!) and a master's degree from Loyola University New Orleans. I have been working in schools for almost 20 years now as a math teacher, counselor, and administrator. Math is my favorite! Numbers and operations bring beauty and order to a chaotic world and help us find patterns everywhere. As an educator, I am always grateful for the opportunity to support my students' growth in confidence in their math skills. I work hard to help students learn to persevere in solving all types of problems and love it when we can make real-world connections to concepts we're studying in math class.

My husband, Will Hughes, and I live in Daphne with our 3 children, 2 dogs, and a cat named Willie Nelson (even though we're not cat people). In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, hanging out with family, volunteering at our church, going to the beach, and puzzles. My favorite movie of all time is Back to the Future. This summer, my goal is to read more books, so I hope my students ask me what I have been reading!

A HUGE congratulations to DHS Softball coach, Jenny Laird!!

Coach Jenny Laird was recognized as Lagniappe’s Coach of the Year! We know she will never share this recognition, so we’re doing it for her. This recognition is well deserved! Coach Laird loves her girls and loves the sport of softball. She leads with knowledge, experience, and grace. This season was a special one and we are excited about the future with Coach Laird 💜⭐️💜!

Welcome, Coach McCarty to DHS!

Hello, my name is Marcus McCarty and I am very excited to join the Daphne family. I will be working in the history department and assisting with the varsity football team. I am originally from the Birmingham area, received my undergraduate degree from the University of West Alabama, and my master’s degree from the University of South Alabama. I am entering my 15th year as a teacher and football coach spanning across Florida and Alabama. My stops have included Orange County Public Schools, Enterprise City Schools, Mobile County Public Schools, and Saraland City Schools. I have experience teaching health, physical education, strength training, and history.

My wife Melissa and I have been married for 15 years and we have two children, Willa (6) and Wyles (3). We enjoy taking family trips anywhere the road takes us and we are current members of 3 Circle Church.

Welcome Ms. Reynolds to DHS

Hi my name is Krista Reynolds I will be teaching Hospitality and Tourism and Culinary this year at Daphne. I hold a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in communications from University of South Alabama. I currently hold certifications in FACS, Math, and PE and I am finishing up my masters in education from University of West Alabama.

I have 2 year old twins that keep me busy and on the go. I love to be outdoors, go to the beach, and play sports. We have lived local for the last few years and I am excited to finally work close to home.

A BIG Trojan welcome to Mrs. Tucker.

Hi, my name is Denise Tucker. I am excited to be teaching Spanish this year at Daphne High School! I have a Master’s Degree in Spanish from Mississippi State University. My dad was in the Air Force and I was born while he was stationed in Puerto Rico. This instilled a love for the Spanish language and all things Hispanic. I am also an adjunct Spanish instructor at South Alabama.

I am married to John Tucker and we have 4 children- three boys and a girl, all grown. Our baby girl, Abbey, is finishing up PT school in Gainesville this year. I am very active in my church, ClearWater Christian Ministries-Eastern Shore, and I play and sing in the praise team. Besides music, I love to travel, watch/read mysteries, swim, and walk. My husband and I have enjoyed walking in the local parks and getting to know the area. I look forward to this new adventure working at Daphne High School and finding my niche there as well as in the community!

Welcome Mrs. Perkins to DHS!

Hello everyone! My name is Wendi Perkins and I am so excited to join Daphne High School as a 9th grade English teacher. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Alabama, and a Master of Education degree in Secondary English Language Arts from the University of South Alabama. I am passionate about literature, writing, and cross-curricular literacy. My goal is to support student success while honoring their individual interests and strengths.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 7th anniversary. Henry and I have two children, Violet (4) and Max (2). Our family lives in Midtown Mobile and attends All Saints Episcopal Church. We love relaxing on Dauphin Island and visiting family in Atlanta and New Orleans. When I don’t have my nose in a book, I enjoy live music, local art, time on the water, photography, volunteering, and writing.

I am honored to join the DHS family and I am looking forward to meeting my new students this fall. Go Trojans!
