Operation Wishbook 01/11/2023

Operation Wish Book is a non-profit organization started more than 29 years ago by retired teachers, to provide new books to children who don't have access to them.

Since 1994, Albertsons Library has been collecting new paperbacks, board books, and hardback books for this tremendous cause, and have made a significant difference in the lives of countless children in the Treasure Valley.

They are counting on everyone once again to join in this campaign. From November 1 to December 8, 2023, they will be collecting new books on a cart near the ASK Desk. They have already collected 252, with a goal of 750 this year.

Operation Wishbook Operation Wishbook is a program started by the Boise School District to collect new children's books for ages 0 to 18. Idaho Center for the Book 06/03/2023

The Idaho Center for the Book seeks nominations for the 2023 "Idaho Great Reads" books to represent the state at the Library of Congress National Book Festival on August 12, 2023.

Two books will be chosen: 1) A book published for children (0-12) or for young adults (13-16), and 2) A book published for adult audiences.

Guidelines for Idaho Great Reads consideration:

Books must be either written by an Idaho author (or illustrated by an Idaho artist), take place in Idaho, or celebrate Idaho's culture and heritage. An author or artist may be considered if they were born in Idaho, are currently living in Idaho, or lived in Idaho for a significant length of time.
Publications may be a work of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or an anthology.
ICB encourages nominations of works by authors/illustrators who belong to an Idaho-based Tribe and from other historically underrepresented groups.
Ideally books will be available for purchase.
Recently published works (within the past 5 years) will be given preference.
Please send nominations (including author, title, publisher, publication date, and connection to Idaho) by March 22 to [email protected] or by surface mail to Gwyn Hervochon, Boise State University, Mail Stop 1430, 1910 University Drive, Boise, ID 83725-1430. Review copies are encouraged but not required.
