Advocacy

We are committed to providing many events to encourage strong family and community engagement, and have many awesome events planned.

We strongly encourage all parents and guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, anyone who cares about our community and student success, etc., to sign up for PTA membership. Your membership dues directly fund programs on anti-bullying/building respect, and Black history awareness presentations, as well as the family events listed above. Not to mention the fact that your dues help PTA provide parent educational seminars, and student events like classroom parties, art night, environmental awareness, recognition rallies, and more. Also remember, being a member of PTA does not mean you need to feel obligated to be on campus. In fact, you could be a member, and not be on campus at all. We would love to have your volunteerism, however, it is not necessary to be a PTA member. The important thing to remember that it is your voice, your student(s) voice, for which we are advocating by becoming a member.

All parents and teachers want to see children succeed. It is our greatest responsibility to help all youth strive for and realize their full potential. More than 30 years' worth of research has proven that children do better when their parents are involved both at home and at school. Grades and test scores climb. Self-esteem grows. Schools improve. PTA is America's number one resource for family engagement, which helps us and our children at all stages. It also helps us keep up with what's happening at our school, and you'll find that what you do, can make a difference for your child and make our school an even better place. Additionally, PTA functions are opportunities to meet others and discuss issues of importance at our school, with a PTA community of over 600,000 members in Texas alone, all working toward the common goal of helping children. PTA provides opportunities for growth, by putting your skills to good use to benefit your child's education, along with tackling new challenges that will help you grow, by volunteering with our PTA. And finally, membership is important because it raises awareness about the importance of family engagement and provides a greater voice for all children at our State Capitol. When it comes to advocacy for public education, numbers matter. As our numbers grow, we have a stronger voice in Austin when our legislators meet and decide on education bills. We need YOU to be that voice!
