Keeping students on track, at it's best.

Within the work of the SOI Service Company, we work with many who are very low in Evaluation and have caused harm to themselves and others. The materials SOI has developed that teach Evaluation are simply amazing. We learn how to evaluate through observation, through others assisting us in how decisions could have been made that would lead to more positive outcomes. Yelling and physical punishment cause withdrawal and hurt. Teaching Evaluation takes time, but skill in this area becomes the foundation of character and dependability in our actions. From solid use of judgment, Divergent thinking can spring forth.

It is critical to teach children the art of good decision making and to redirect teens and adults when reacting is a stronger developed skill than using Evaluation in the process of making decisions.

From my 30 years of living within the structure of SOI, I wrote my thoughts on the art of decision making. I would love to share how we use this valuable tool with clients from 4 to 80.

The Key to Learning

SOI stands for Structure Of Intellect – a theory of human intelligence which describes the abilities for acquiring, assimilating, and processing information – the basis of human learning.

Dr. Mary Meeker saw the potential for diagnosing learning difficulties, and realized that certain intellectual abilities were related to basic learning. She also discovered that intellectual abilities could be taught and improved.

How does SOI work?

Brain functioning begins in the body. The SOI sensory integration & perceptual skills assessment determines where the physical system needs assistance in developing a firm foundation for learning.

In addition, SOI learning ability assessments evaluate cognition, memory, problem solving, evaluation, and creativity to determine strengths and weaknesses in key learning areas.

The ability to comprehend AND remember is critical in learning. It is often said that gifted students have gifted memories.
