We are excited to bring our members an informative and engaging presentation on Maritime coverages and legalities. Our presenter, Mr. Thomas J. Muzyka, Senior Partner at Clinton & Muzyka, P.C., has concentrated his practice in all aspects of civil maritime matters. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, sailed as a deck officer on various U.S. merchant vessels, and is a founding partner of the Boston law firm of Clinton & Muzyka, P.C. Some of the topics he will present on include:
U.S. General Maritime Law
U.S. Statutes including the "Jones Act"
Jurisdiction
Personal Injury Claims
Maritime Insurers and Coverages

CPCU - New Hampshire - Chaptergrams

Thank you for those that were able to join us last week for our annual chapter year-end dinner celebration! We enjoyed good food, great company, and took the opportunity to swear in our 2024 volunteer leaders! Please join me in thanking and congratulating incoming President Nick Komsa (right) and President-Elect Charles Yarbrough (left) for their service to the chapter and our members! Not pictured but also to be recognized, thank you to Jacquilyn Flack (VP) and Dean Hlavaz (Treasurer) for your past and upcoming service as well.

Thank you all who contributed to making 2023 a successful and fulfilling year, and hope to see you all at an event in 2024!

Last week, we had the opportunity to partner with the NH Food Bank for a morning of food sorting and packaging. The work done by the CPCU volunteers resulted in about 6,000 pounds of food packaged and ready to distribute to over 400 agencies around the state. Thank you to NH Food Bank for hosting us, and to all that came out to make this annual project a success!

• October 24th: New England I-Day. This half day virtual event is being brought to you by a combined effort from the ME, NH, MA and RI chapters. Final details are forthcoming, but registration is open on the NH website today!

The Boston Chapter CPCU is hosting an Axe and Knife throwing event next Wednesday, June 21st at the Axe Shack in Lowell, MA from 6p-8p. Registration includes 2hrs of Axe/Knife Throwing, 2 drink tickets and Pizza/Salads and I wanted to personally extend the invitation to all of you!

Invitation is open to all Insurance Professionals in MA/NH so if you have any friends, family in the Northshore/NH area who may want to join us please invite them!!! You don’t have to be a CPCU to attend. You can register using the following link.

Boston Chapter CPCU Networking Event - Axe & Knife Throwing Join with colleagues and friends in the industry for this unique networking event we will learn how to throw axes and knives!

Thank you to Chris Nicolopoulos, the Red Blazer and all who came out yesterday morning to share a meal and a conversation with the NH Insurance Commissioner! We look forward to repeating this event next year!

Please join us on Wednesday, June 7th for our annual CPCU Breakfast with Chris Nicolopoulos, the Insurance Commissioner for the state of New Hampshire. This is always a great event where we get to hear updates in NH straight from Chris and we also have ample time dedicated to Q&A. We would love to see everyone for this in person event!

As was the case last year, the event will again be held at the Red Blazer in Concord. The venue will open for guests at 8:00 AM, and breakfast will be served at 8:45. Please RSVP as we will need to submit a final number to the Red Blazer.

Note: This event is free for CPCU designees, and $15 (paid cash or check at the door) for non CPCU designees.

The New Hampshire CPCU is excited to provide an opportunity for members, friends and family to come together for a night of food, baseball and fireworks fun! We have secured a suite at the Manchester Fisher Cats (Blue Jays AA affiliate) game on Thursday, May 18th against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NY Mets AA affiliate) for the first 40 guests to attend. The package includes food and non-alcoholic drink options, as well as parking, tickets to the game and the fireworks show immediately following. And the best part - attendance is 100% free for members, and only $10 for non-member guests!

Members from the NH CPCU Chapter attended the Keene State College Safety and Risk Management career fair last week! Nick and Jason had the opportunity to meet with college students looking to get into careers in risk management, insurance, and other safety related areas, as well as faculty and other complimentary nonprofit organizations. We look forward to building interest in student membership, and on the new and strengthened partnerships that came from this event!

The New Hampshire CPCU will have a table at the Safety Career and Internship Fair at Keene State College on Thursday, March 2nd! We'll be meeting with students and alumni from the Safety, Construction Safety, and Safety Management programs, and spreading the word of the benefits of the CPCU community and student membership. If you are in the area between 9AM and 1PM, stop by to see us at our table, or join us for a late lunch afterwards at The Stage. We don't get out to the Keene area as often as we would like for CPCU events, and it would be great to meet with you all! We've been busy this year! The NH CPCU team continues to strive to create events that bring opportunities for social engagement and networking, as well as bringing you informational gatherings that provoke thought and continuous learning.

In January, we met in Dover for an informative and thought provoking session on the insurability of COVID related business interruptions. Attorneys Marshall Gilinsky and Tamara Smith Holtslag represented opposing views on the topic, and led the group through a healthy debate and discussion. (See below pictures)
