SUMMER READING IDEAS - Create a Cozy Reading Space. A dedicated reading space can make reading feel special. Transform a corner of your home or an outdoor area into a cozy space used only for reading.

CLUB EAGLE SUMMER SCHOOL - Our summer classes are off to a strong start at Sunnyslope! Thanks to Mr. Chavez, our coordinator, and all the Sunnyslope teachers that are helping engage our students academically in the month of June. Remember, classes take place Monday to Thursday, every week until Thursday, June 20, 2024.

FREE MEALS - Don’t forget that kids under the age of 18 can get breakfast and lunch in our SUNNYSLOPE cafeteria!

SUMMER LEARNING IDEAS - Head to the library (7th Street and Townley) to participate in the Phoenix Public Library summer reading program! Remember to read every day, and if you don't have a book, the Acacia branch is only one mile from Sunnyslope Elementary School!

SUMMER LEARNING IDEAS - Start a journal about your time away from school. Here are some ideas to get you started:

-Would you rather go swimming at a beach or a swimming pool? Why?

-Which is the better summer barbeque food: hamburgers or hotdogs? Why?

-Is summer your favorite season? Why or why not? How does it compare to the other seasons of the year?

-Would you rather spend a summer day going on an adventure or staying at home? Why do you prefer one over the other?

-What’s the best way to spend a summer day?

Share the writing with your family and friends and ask their ideas too!

75 DAYS - Students not enrolled in CLUB EAGLE summer school have exactly 75 days from the last day of school, to the first day of school next year (Monday, August 5, 2024). What can you read, learn, or do to better yourself in those 75 days?

We will post summer ideas for learning throughout our break to give students and parents ideas you can do at home. Our goal is for everyone to avoid the “summer slide” and stay engaged with your learning!

REMINDER - There are no summer school classes on Monday, May 27, in observance of the MEMORIAL DAY holiday. Our Club Eagle summer classes begin on Tuesday, May 28.

CLUB EAGLE SUMMER SCHOOL - Are you in the club? If you’re not yet enrolled in Sunnyslope Club Eagle summer classes, please contact the front office at (602) 347-4300, and ask for Mr. Chavez, our summer school coordinator. Some grade levels are full, but there is still room in K-3 classes.

Arrival/Breakfast - 7:45 a.m.
Start Time - 8:15 a.m.
Lunch - 12:15 p.m.
Dismissal - 12:45 p.m.

Classes start Tuesday, May 28 after Memorial Day, and the last summer school session is Thursday, June 20. Please contact the front office with any questions. 🦅

MALDEF GRADUATION - We are so proud of our 12 graduates of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), for their dedication and passion this school year! They finished their classes last week and we could not be more excited! Thanks for your dedication to the Sunnyslope community and your children.

A special thanks to Senora Griselda, for her leadership and expertise, leading the group. Amazing things lie ahead! 🦅

SUNNYSLOPE BREAKFAST POTLUCK - This morning we said goodbye to the 23/24 school year and THANK YOU to the teachers that are moving on in their careers. Thank you for what you have done for our kids and our community! You are an ETERNAL EAGLE and will always have Sunnyslope as a home! 🦅

8th GRADE PROMOTION - Sunnyslope has a tradition of our 8th grade students walking the basketball courts in front of S MOUNTAIN on their way to promotion. This allows all our kindergarten to 7th grade students to SEE THEIR FUTURE! Thanks to the entire Sunnyslope campus for cheering on our 8th graders today! 🦅

AZELLA SUCCESS - Congratulations to all our Sunnyslope students that passed the AZELLA (Arizona English Learner Language Assessment) this year at Sunnyslope! They were recognized this past week with an ice cream sundae bar. We are so proud of you as you are now fluent in the English language, as recognized by the state of Arizona!

‘TIS THE SEASON - Have an amazing WINTER BREAK, CHRISTMAS, and HOLIDAY SEASON! Remember Eagles, don’t forget to be SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, and RESPECTFUL at home, and we will see you all back safe in 2024!
