I can't wait to jump into student council this year and learn to serve the student body while ultimately glorifying the Lord! My favorite Bible verse is 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you many proclaim the excellencies of darkness into his marvelous light." Hello! My name is Hailey Busse and I am entering my senior year of highschool. This school year I am looking forward to my classes and getting to meet new people. My favorite HIS project would probably be the Hike for Life with the Pregnancy Care Center, and one of my favorite events is the worship night. Other things I enjoy include doing art, reading, and being outdoors. A Bible verse I want to lean into this year is Matthew 6:33 which says "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
This is Cadence Dixon, our new Student Council President!
Hello Hallstrom! My name is Cadence Dixon, and I am your Student Council President for the 2023-24 school year. I am entering my senior year of highschool and enjoy dance, theater, and reading among many other things. My favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 2:3b-7, “Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” I am so excited for this next school year, specifically for serving alongside my fellow SC officers, and am looking forward to seeing what God will do to bless this amazing community!

Last but not least- we have your new president... Lily Jones!
My name is Lily Jones and I am the 2022-2023 Student Council president. I love Hallstrom with all my heart and I look forward to serving the student body. Some things I enjoy doing are taking long walks, reading, and cooking. Hallstrom has HIS projects every year and my favorite is caroling at the nursing home. I love meeting all the residents, and I always leave feeling inspired and cheerful. Hallstrom is one of the many homeschool co-ops in our area, but I believe what makes us stand out is in fact we are not only active in our student's lives, but also in our community. We are able to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we go. The Bible verse I will lean on this year says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5,6
Introducing your new vice president... Cadence Dixon!
Hello Hallstrom! My name is Cadence Dixon and I am so thrilled to be vice president on the Student Council this year. Among other things, I love to read, dance, sing, spend time with friends, and plan Student Council events. My favorite event/HIS Project that we participate in is the PCC’s Hike For Life. I believe that the students and families that attend Hallstrom are what make it so special, which is why I feel so blessed to be on the Student Council. One Bible verse that I specifically want to lean into this year is Ephesians 5:1, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice for God.” Our theme this year is service, so I hope to see hearts that desire to imitate God and serve one another within the student body.
Next up, we have me - your communications officer for the year!
Hello! My name is Maddie Harland and this is my final year of high school. I'll be acting as the communications officer for this year. I love hanging out with my friends and family, petting animals, autumn and candles! I dislike scary dolls, extremely hot weather and bugs. My favorite HIS project that I've done is the Fall cleanup. I love being able to help out the church that has been hosting us for so long, spending time with friends, and the beautiful weather at that time of the year! I think what makes Hallstrom special is the Christian atmosphere that surrounds the building. The students get to learn in a Christ-centered environment, and I think that's really important. The scripture verse that I'd like to reflect this year is Matthew 5:16- "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven".
Introducing your next student council member - Elena Steurer! She'll be our treasurer for this year!
Hey there! My name is Elena Steurer, and this is my senior year at Hallstrom. This year I am serving as treasurer on the student council. I absolutely love playing music, and also really enjoy reading and handcrafting. I love being outside, especially during the fall season with all the beautiful colors. My dislikes include gardening, peppers (blegh) and math. My favorite HIS project is the Fall clean-up we do at Crosspoint Church each year–I love helping out the church that gives us so much! One thing that I think makes Hallstrom different from many other co-ops is the passion that so many students have for Christ and spreading His Gospel. One verse I would like to emphasize this year at Hallstrom is Hebrews 12:1-2: “Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” I hope and pray that God will bless the students at Hallstrom this year, and give them the encouragement they need to run the race of faith.
Your next student council member is Hailey Busse - she'll be our secretary this year!
My name is Hailey Busse and I'm your secretary for this year! I like being outdoors, reading, creating things, math and science, and ice cream. I dislike things being unorganized and public speaking. My favorite HIS project is the Hike for Life! I think Hallstrom is special because it has a loving Christian community that promotes Bible-centered teaching and active student involvement. The scripture verse that I want to lean into this year is Philippians 2:3-4: "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
Next up we have Baron Legue, your second HIS Coordinator!
My name is Baron Legue and I'll be one of your HIS Coordinators! I like being in the woods and hanging out with friends but I dislike crowded spaces and heights.
My favorite HIS project was the fall clean up. I think hallstrom is special specifically because of how its a Christian school that is intentional about having Biblical principles. The Bible verse I want to lean on is psalms 27: 14 " Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
Say hello to your new student council members! Starting off, we have Trenton Schlukebir, one of your HIS Coordinators!
Hello, my name is Trenton Schlukebir and I will be one of your H.I.S. coordinators this year! I like 80s-90s Pop, rainy days, coffee, hanging out with friends, and homemade burgers. I dislike country music (it’s all the same), 95 degree heat, unsweet tea, sitting for long periods, and Welch's Fruit snacks.
I think that Hallstrom is special because of the community that it has. I have been going here for 6 or 7 years at this point and I have always had people here that have supported me in anything
that I did. My favorite H.I.S. project is probably the cleanups at Crosspoint, it is a fun way for us to give back to the church and thank them, and also to just have fun and hang out with friends.
The verse that I want to guide my actions through this year is Matthew 5:14-15 which reads “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp
and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your
Father who is in heaven.” I want to show God through anything and everything that I do this year, and glorify him.
Student council is hosting a back-to-school kickoff and bonfire on August 19th for all 8th-12th graders! It will be hosted at the Jones' house from 5:30-9:00pm. For the ladies attending- please bring a snack to share, and for the guys, please bring bottled drinks! Additionally, everyone please bring bagged chairs and skewers - food will be provided. Don't forget to sign up on the Hallstrom website! Hope to see you all there!
Student Council is planning an afternoon of fun and games at Aberdeen Park on June 17th from 1pm-3pm for all High School Students. We would especially encourage incoming 8th graders to come and get to know some of the older students!
We will be taking a field trip to Midway Village for their Civil War Days on Friday, May 6, 9pm-2pm! The cost is $8/person. (This activity is for schools only, so we will meet and go in as a group.)
