DOUSMAN STUDENT MAKES BIRTHDAYS ABOUT GIVING!!! Since turning 7, Connor has taken a different approach to birthdays. It was that first-grade year, when schools were closed, that he asked his mother “since I can’t bring treats to my friends at school, can we bring them to your friends at work?" His mother worked at a hospital and the kind gesture was so appreciated during COVID, that Conner has made giving his “tradition,” bringing birthday treats to first responders. This year Connor visited the Summit Police Department. The deputy called Connor's family to convey how touched they were by his kindness after a tough call the previous evening. Sometimes, giving really is better than receiving! To learn more, view the post by the Village of Summit Police Department:

Mrs Niemiec pyched out staff and students with the 2nd grade donut clay project displays! She gave us a bit of information about the project: “The second graders found out about fake foods being made out of plastic for restaurant displays, and how artists like Wayne Thiebaud focused on food in a lot of his paintings! We tried to see if we could make our own fake food that looked convincing enough to eat! (we started around Valentine's day when sweet treats were all the rave).”

Spring break is here!!! And what a way to end the week! The all school field trip to Discovery World was a total success, despite Wisconsin’s “Spring” weather ❄️
Special thank you to our PTO for sponsoring this event!

ENROLL IN KM 4 AND 5K NOW!!! The open enrollment window closes on 4/30 and it is important to apply and secure a spot before it re-opens in summer, as enrollment is first-come, first-served. We also need district residents to enroll in 4K so we can meet your choice of schools and accommodate wrap care requests. There is no need to enroll in KM 5K if your child was in KM 4K this year. Get started now at Kindergarten in the Kettle Moraine school district is truly a magical experience and we have many wonderful options to meet the needs of young learners and their busy families. Our 4/5K programming builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning and connects families to our school district. To explore options and learn more about each of our elementary sites and wrap-around care partners, contact 4K Director Justin Nies, at [email protected].

The Iditarod Race that starts in Anchorage Alaska began yesterday and Mrs. Lenske’s 3rd grade students are big fans! Each 3rd grader picked a Musher to track and place their progress on her Iditarod bulletin board right outside their classroom. To say they are excited is an understatement! Thanks for being so awesome Mrs. Lenske!

Kindergarten is really fun! Our fabulous teachers came up with an end of unit project that incorporated their MyView theme that they just completed along with a Three Little Pigs Stem project. Our kindergartners had a blast building houses made of straw, sticks, and bricks. Then Mrs Siems and Ms Strenke, aka the BIG BAD WOLVES tried to blow their houses down. It was AWESOME!!!!

CARING IS ALWAYS ON DISPLAY AT DOUSMAN!! Check out the All-School collaborative project Mrs. Lea organized to coincide with Valentine's Day and our theme of the month which is Caring. Students worked with their buddy class to make faces on their hearts. The different colors represent the different grade levels here at Dousman. The 7 1/2 foot wide x 9 foot high heart will be on display in the front hallway across from the gym entrance for the foreseeable future.
