Honoring the Seymour Fire Department Recognizes Fire Chief Chris Edwards

It is both an honor and a privilege to recognize a group of individuals whose commitment to Seymour goes far beyond the call of duty — a group that exemplifies service, compassion, and true partnership with our schools and families.

On behalf of the Seymour Board of Education, we are proud to present the 2025 CAS Distinguished Friend of Education Award to the Seymour Fire Department.

This prestigious honor is awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions to public education and the lives of students — and the Seymour Fire Department has done just that…and so much more.

From opening their doors to young learners, teaching safety with heart, and celebrating our students’ milestones — to tossing candy in parades, hiding Easter eggs, and popping popcorn for Santa — they have made Seymour not only safer, but stronger, warmer, and more united.

Their involvement in countless school and town-wide events proves one thing: Education and community go hand in hand.

In Seymour, we strive to raise students who are active, engaged citizens — and thanks to the shining example of the Seymour Fire Department, they’re learning what service, leadership, and compassion truly look like.

We’re proud to share that Seymour High School was recognized at the Southwest CT Manufacturing Partnership’s Quarterly Regional Sector Meeting hosted by OEM Controls in Shelton!

With over 30 manufacturers, educators, and industry leaders in attendance, the focus was clear: innovation, collaboration, and action. 💼✨

Highlights included:
🔹 Workforce housing updates
🔹 Progress from the Good Jobs Challenge — 28 trained, 13 hired/promoted!
🔹 A live demo on AI in manufacturing

We were honored to be among local schools like Ansonia and the University of New Haven working side-by-side with industry partners like CCAT, CONNSTEP, ReadyCT, and others.

👏 A big thank you to Sam Simons of OEM Controls and Paul Lavoie, CT’s Chief Manufacturing Officer, for leading such an inspiring conversation about the future of manufacturing in our region.

Together, we’re preparing students to be career-ready Wildcats through real-world partnerships that make a difference!

What an inspiring day at Chatfield-LoPresti and Bungay School as our amazing students celebrated their Moving Up Ceremonies — and shared their powerful and heartfelt “I AM” Poems with pride! 💙💛
