Happy Spring everyone!!

Today we are going to shine a light on our office staff. You may have seen them up on the mountain or had conversations with them throughout the season. They work hard all year to keep our office functioning and keeping us up to date on all the new changes that are often happening.

Nathaniel Gibbs, General Manager, is a hard working manager that goes the extra mile to make sure everyone feels heard and seen. He helps answer some of the hard questions that we tend to have throughout the season. He goes out into the community to get more instructors, assistants, and makes sure people know of the amazing classes that Mohan offers. If you have any program questions or need information about any of the rules contact our General Manager at [email protected]

Ruth Richardson, HR and Transportation Coordinator and Private Lesson Coordinator, is constantly looking for ways to help everyone get their needs met. She wears many hats due to her vast knowledge of the company. She is ready and willing with her bright smile to answer anyone in need. She's quick to respond to questions or concerns with all the information needed. If you need any help getting signed up to be one of our staff or information about private lessons feel free to send her an email!! [email protected]

Sara Schaaf, Office and Programs Coordinator, can help answer all your questions regarding pricing, times, schedule, and many other needs for our programs. If she doesn't have the answer she will figure it out and get back to you quickly. She has had many years working in school districts and on school buses which helps her know how to best help our amazing Program Coordinators for our middle school and high school programs. If you have any questions feel free to contact her at [email protected]

As we go into Spring and Summer we hope you keep us in mind for the winter sports! Our sign up starts September 16th at 9 am! Nathaniel will be out in the community at different events starting in May. Keep an eye out for him and visit him to get some cool prizes or even put your name on our newsletter list!

As our 2024 Season came to an end we had to share our appreciation for all of our staff!

We just admire how our instructors and assistants work hard every time they are up on the mountain. They help get our hut up and going at the end of the season each year. They do extra trainings when needed and really do care about the students. We have had many parents praise how our instructors made their students feel excited for each class. Our instructors and assistants are just the greatest!

Our fearless leaders and Board of Directors are all the heart that keeps this program going! Gordy, Dan, and Tim are the reason we are even able to have this program. They work around the clock helping instructors, office staff, students, and parents. Their huge hearts make us all feel seen and appreciated every day. We all thank you for everything you have taught us throughout the years!

Our office staff doing all of the behind the scenes work really do a great job! Ruth, our Office Manager, is always available with a warm smile and lots of great ideas. Nathaniel, our General Manager, is often seen running from place to place as he is usually doing many tasks at once. He helps as many people as he can and is always there to listen to our staff. They definitely deserve a big shout out!

As the Spring and Summer months are fast approaching keep an eye out for our big snowflake or our General Manager, Nathaniel! He will be all over the place recruiting more instructors, assistants, and greeters for next season.

Hey Mohan fam! We hope you've been having an amazing season. As it comes to a close, we'd love to see your memories! Use or add your pics/videos here. We can't wait to see the fun you've captured!

: when we had so much snow we had to work hard to keep the roof of the hut intact!

Meet Ruth! If you're a Mohan staff member, student, or family member, you've probably received an email from our office and operations superhero. The weeks leading up to the start of lessons and the first few weeks of the session are an especially busy time for our office team, so we'd like to give Ruth a huge shoutout and say THANK YOU!

This pretty much sums up our Saturday! Thank you to everyone who joined us on the mountain today, and yesterday too.

Note for our Sunday folks: we had a LOT of late friends, staff and students alike, because of big traffic backups. Please add at LEAST an extra 45-60 minutes to your travel time - it takes longer than you think to get from the highway to the parking lot, find a spot, and walk up to our meeting area. (If your plan is to arrive at 10 for a 10:30 class, you *will* be late.)

See you tomorrow!

🚨Program Delay Alert🚨

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Snoqualmie Pass effective Thursday AM-Saturday PM with total snow accumulations of up to 2 to 3 feet possible. The forecast also calls for high winds and extremely cold temperatures throughout the weekend. With careful consideration from the Mohan Management Team, we have decided, for the safety of our students, staff, and volunteers, to do a 1-week delay in our program. All Friday, Saturday, and Sunday programs will be delayed by 1 week.

Our revised operating dates are:

Fridays: 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23
Saturdays: 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17,2/24
Sundays: 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25

We want our fellow Mohanians to be safe and have fun together up on the slopes. The safety of our Mohan students, staff, and volunteers is always our first priority. We know this may be an inconvenience to some, however others have also been concerned about the mountain conditions. We hear you and we appreciate the feedback! Thank you for choosing to spend your time up on the mountains with Mohan. We look forward to spending time up on the slopes together, just a week later than planned. See you next week!

On January 14th, families received an upsetting email stating that their 6 year old’s classes had been cancelled. We did not cancel these classes because the Summit told us to. We cancelled them because we do not have the staff to cover the high demand. We had a significant influx of 6 year old students this year. For their safety, classes must remain very small. For a young child to ride the chair lift safely it is recommended (*not required*) by the Summit that an adult be on the chair. We, at Mohan, completely agree with this recommendation. In the past we would make sure that classes of our youngest students had an assistant with them. Unfortunately, we do not have the staffing levels to keep this promise this year.

Since students' safety is most important to us and our staffing is not what it once was, we chose to cancel the 6 year old classes. We know that this decision causes many families to be disappointed, frustrated, and even angry. Those are not feelings we are happy about causing. The alternative would be to keep the classes and still cause the same feelings just for another reason. Instead it would be because the classes were too large and not progressing well enough, and little ones would ride the chairlift alone for their 1st time. It was better to cancel than to provide a horrible experience, on the mountain, for the little ones.

We hope this explanation clarifies our decision. We know it does not make it better. The purpose of this post was to explain that the class cancellation is not the Summit’s fault. The email sent by our office staff on the 14th led people to believe the Summit was to blame. That was not the intent or the case. This lies solely on Mohan Skiing & Boarding. The Summit was only mentioned, in support of the decision, not blame for it. We apologize that the message was not clear.

We are all deeply sorry for such a huge disappointment.

Through unforeseen circumstances we had to make a very tough decision this week and we offer our sincerest apologies to those effected. If we hadn't taken these steps we would not have been able to follow our Covid guidelines and offer a safe learning environment and this is a huge priority for us.
