We are grateful to have Mina on our leadership team—her personal experience, compassion for others, and the ability to connect across different backgrounds are an inspiration to witness. Mina joined our team in 2010 and began managing our refugee support program in 2019. Our refugee support program provides moral support, access to education, and food for families in the long process of resettlement. Mina also co-founded and runs our small business , which helps to fund the program.

We are grateful to have Yadfon on our leadership team—her passion, vision, and dedication to her students are an inspiration to us all at CLF. Yadfon joined our team over ten years ago with a vision to empower the indigenous peoples of Thailand, commonly referred to as Hill Tribe, with access to education. The majority of our students in Northern Thailand have parents who lacked the resources needed to attend school or continue their education beyond the 4th grade. This is why we are so excited to see 86% (and rising) of our students graduate from high school (compared to only 6% of their parents) and excited to see most students continue to university. We look forward to a new year and all its possibilities.

We are blessed to have Plaar on our team. She joined us more than 10 years ago after we learned about a woman who was helping enroll migrant children into the school system in her neighborhood. Plaar continues to care deeply for her students and invests her time and energy in making sure they have what they need to not only be the first in their family to graduate from high school but to pursue their dreams of higher education. Currently, 60% of our high school graduates enroll in universities throughout Bangkok and Northern Thailand. Thanks to the support of our generous supporters, we are walking into 2024 hand-in-hand ready for a great year!

Nestled in the tranquil embrace of Thailand's mountains, Julalak embarked on a journey that defied the challenging circumstances of her early life. Before the intervention of the Creative Life Foundation (CLF), Julalak faced the harsh reality of financial constraints that threatened to shatter her dreams of education. Her parents struggled to afford schooling, and the looming possibilities included abandoning education for a life of uncertain work.

Julalak found a guiding light when her sibling, Rain, introduced her to the Creative Life Foundation. This introduction marked the beginning of a transformative chapter in Julalak's life—a chapter defined by hope, opportunities, and unwavering support. Rain played a crucial role in helping Julalak apply for CLF's scholarship program, which changed the trajectory of her life. The funding not only relieved the financial burden but allowed Julalak to fully focus on her studies without the weight of worry.

In the face of adversity, Julalak's determination became a beacon of inspiration. Rain's guidance, coupled with CLF's support, ignited a flame within her that burned brightly even in the darkest times.

However, CLF's support went beyond financial assistance. Julalak found a community through their activities, building life skills and confidence. During challenging times, her CLF mentor encouraged her to keep pursuing her dreams. "They helped me believe in myself when I struggled," Julalak said.

Julalak has excelled academically thanks to CLF's holistic approach. She is now pursuing her goal of becoming a nurse, driven by the desire to give back to her community that has given her so much. Julalak serves as an inspiration for other youth facing adversity, showing what can be achieved through determination and community support.

Her story illuminates how CLF is empowering a new generation to realize their potential, fostering positive change in the lives of those in rural Thailand for years to come.

Baithuy's early years reflect the challenges encountered by many children in Thailand, encompassing aspects such as poverty, housing instability, food insecurity, limited educational prospects, and inadequate healthcare access. However, against all odds, with support from CLF, she has triumphed over adversity and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in human resource management. Delve into the inspiring narrative of her journey by exploring her complete story on our blog.

Baithuy’s childhood is representative of what most children face in Thailand: poverty, housing insecurity, food insecurity, limited education opportunities, and insufficient access to healthcare. However, with support from the Creative Life Foundation, Baithuy has been able to change her life’s trajectory.

Her parents were both educated until 7th grade, which is quite typical in Thailand. Around the age of twelve, most children are forced to abandon their education to find work. They need to support their families financially, and there is certainly no money left over for school tuition, uniforms, and supplies. Thus begins a long life of trying to string together enough low-paying jobs to make ends meet.

CLF interceded in Baithuy’s case because she met Plar, one of CLF’s mentors, through church. Baithuy first started in CLF’s Saturday English program. After finishing 6th grade, her family was about to pull Baithuy out of school because they could no longer afford the school fees. Plar helped Baithuy apply for and receive funding from CLF for tuition and school supplies. At the time, Baithuy was living with her grandmother because her parents had other young children at home and couldn’t afford to care for her. The poverty Baithuy experienced is indescribable, so CLF’s tuition scholarship was life-changing.

Because of CLF’s support, Baithuy was able to stay in school and balance just one part-time cashier job to supplement her family’s income. Since she was able to focus on school, Baithuy successfully graduated last year. She is now enrolled in university and studying human resource management. She still works part-time but because of the scholarship she receives from CLF, she is not scrambling to finance her education or afford groceries.

Surprisingly, Baithuy says the mentorship and advice she has received from CLF has had the greatest impact on her life throughout the years. One would think it was solely the tuition funds that changed the course of Baithuy’s life, but, in ...

The prospect of formal education seemed like an elusive dream, a luxury she couldn't afford. Then, the CLF intervened, embodying the essence of empowerment. With unwavering commitment, CLF extended a scholarship to Anne, opening doors to an education that had initially seemed out of reach.

Today, Anne is on the threshold of a promising future, commencing her first year at university with a focus on business studies. This transformative journey from a precarious start to pursuing higher education reflects the profound impact a simple act of generosity can have on an individual's life.

As we celebrate Anne's achievements, we invite you to continue reading her story here:

Plar met Anne when she was 12 years old, when she had just moved in with her aunt because her parents divorced. She was working to support herself and did not have the resources to attend school. School just wasn’t an option. Her father completed grade 4, then had to work to support himself and his family. Her mother was able to complete grade nine before having to quit. She did eventually complete a GED.

Anne did not have strong role models or the necessary resources to prioritize completing her education until she met Plar, a former Social Worker, current Pastor, and mentor for students supported by CLF.

Anne’s aunt put her in touch with Plar and asked her to help Anne. CLF stepped in to give Anne a scholarship for her schooling.

Anne started her journey with CLF when she began grade 7. With scholarship help every year, Anne graduated from high school. Now she is in her first year of university, continuing to be mentored by Plar and supported by CLF...

When people ask, "Why education?" it's because creating access to education is the catalyst for change that extends far beyond the classroom. When children are given the opportunity and resources needed to thrive, that's what happens—they thrive, or at least that's what we are experiencing at Creative Life Foundation.
