The Student Council is sponsoring two ways to help foster children and foster families in our area this holiday season.

The "Giving Wall" project begins Monday, November 20th. Students and staff members will be able to take a tag or tags from the wall and provide gifts and necessities for people in the foster care system. We are working with the Foster Families Navigation and Resource Center, as well as River Jordan of Bay City. All gifts and gift cards are due Monday, Dec. 11th.

Our annual St. Nicholas Shoe/Boot Collection will take place Wednesday, December 6, St. Nicholas Day. Students and staff members will receive a candy treat in exchange for new and gently worn footwear which they bring to their first hour classes.

Senior Madie is one of 16 members of the MHSAA Student Advisory Council. In recent weeks, she has traveled to Troy and Traverse City to speak to over 300 students about the importance of good sportsmanship. We are so proud of you Madie; you're a great role model to all students, near and far.

The junior class went on a pilgrimage to the Cross in the Woods in Indian River. This shrine features the biggest crucifix in the world. Pilgrims can kneel and pray on each step of the stairs up to the crucifix, just like the Holy Stairs in Rome.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a square for the UofM/MSU boards to support the 8th Gr. Washington D.C. trip. We were able to fill two boards (one white and one neon orange) and each board has different numbers. Please look for your name to find your numbers.

There are four (4) payouts per board that occur at the end of each quarter (the 4th payout will be end of game. If there is an overtime, there will not be a 4th quarter payout, only end of game). Winners will be contacted on Sunday, October 22nd by Mrs. Ashleigh Wauters and winnings will be in the school's main office on Monday, October 23rd. Drivers license will be required to pick up money as proof of identification. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Wauters at [email protected]. Thank you again for your support.

For Teacher/Student Reverse day, we have to do some double takes to see who is the real teacher and who is the real student.

In Ms. Heinlein's 7th grade Social Studies class, students have been putting their recently learned knowledge of economics to use. Students were asked to create a product or service that they would be selling to their classmates. On marketplace day, students were encouraged to adjust their prices according to supply and demand. Students were supplied with "money" to walk around and buy from their classmates. The products included baked goods, drinks, carnival games, slime, bookmarks, jewelry and coasters.
