🌍 Opportunity for high school youth to explore global food security challenges now includes a $1, 000 scholarship to attend CSU College of Ag Sciences 🌎

🌽Registration is now open for the Colorado GROW Youth Institute on May 7, 2024. This program challenges high school students to solve local and global food security issues by exploring the intersection of agriculture, sustainability, and food security. During an interactive program hosted at the CSU Spur campus in Denver, high school students from across the state will network with peers, researchers, and industry leaders, and participate in hands-on science activities.

🥕All participants in the May 7th event will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend the College of Agricultural Sciences and become eligible to apply for several exclusive internship and fellowship opportunities. Additionally, following the May 7th event, 2 – 4 Colorado delegates will be selected and funded to participate in the World Food Prize Foundation’s Global Youth Institute in October 2024.

🫑To participate in this event, students must complete a short Global Challenge research paper with ideas and solutions (guidelines provided here) and register by April 15. There is no cost to register for the event. At the May 7th event, students will present their research and proposed solutions to experts working on addressing global challenges and their impact on food security in local and global communities. They will also engage in hands-on science activities related to food, health, and water at the CSU Spur campus.

🥦Please direct any interested students to www.worldfoodprize.org/Colorado where they can register for the event.

The CSU Ag Ed family wanted to take a moment on this hump day 🐪 (woot woot) to recognize two VERY important people to our program, Korina Wright and Sarah Appel🤍. Korina has been serving as our program assistant for the last few years and needless to say- without her, we would be lost! Korina’s dedication to our program and her giant heart for FFA members are just two of the hundreds of reasons why she is our hero! Korina, thank you for literally EVERYTHING. You and your infectious smile are the glue that keeps us together🤗. Sarah Appel has been a graduate student in our program for the past two years, and it is going to be so hard to let her go after graduation! Sarah dove right into our programs and became a BIG part of our Ramily 🐏. Sarah is always ready and willing to support Colorado Ag Ed and our endeavors whether it be judging a CDE contest, facilitating ag literacy programming, or bring our resident graphic designer. Sarah, your can-do attitude and positivity will be missed around COBank! We wish Sarah all the best in her ventures after completing her degree! 🌎
