In the U.S., we like "Happily Ever After" stories. The heroine is faced with a problem, she solves the problem, she vanquishes the villain, she learns a bit about herself along the way, and the story ends there, with everything tied into a neat little bow.
It makes for a lovely story.
It also can create false expectations about life, if that becomes your belief system.
๐ You might feel like it's your fault when your life doesn't stay tied in a neat little bow.
I remember a Russian movie that almost ended with a happy ending, and then the little girl protagonist was run over and left to die in the end. Very different message, and one that wouldn't have been allowed in the U.S. except maybe in a horror movie that was planning a sequel.
It makes for a terrible story, and one that also can create false expectations about life (nothing good can last), if that becomes your belief system.
Life is life. Sometimes, good and wonderful things happen. Sometimes, terrible things happen. In either situation, it's good to have people around you who love you and support you. In the good times, they will share the good with you. In the bad times, they will lift you up.
